Yes, 960p is a standard resolution, but it is not wide-spread, 1080p and 720p are the most popular. If you select 1280x960 in Advanced option, output video will be as the original, but you should also make sure that 4:3 aspect button in the top toolbar is enabled when you edit video in AVS Video Editor.

As for AVS Video Remaker, it is a good choice if you would like to keep quality and all the parameters of the video. The program allows to edit video (including HD) without re-encoding. I would advise you to try it at least.

Thanks for the added info. That clears things up for me. I was going to ask about the 4:3 aspect ratio as it defaults to that and that is where I leave it.

I read somewhere else that one of your other products, Video ReMaker, is good for this. I will check it out and see how it goes. Otherwise if I use the ADVANCED settings, will the video be exactly as the original seeing it is 1280x960 in the first place? If I am confusing you it is because I don't see an option for the 1280x960 in any of the drop down menu's. I thought 960p was a standard resolution. I tried the Video ReMaker but am having no joy. I tried to split a file to about 2 and a half minutes and saved it and it doesn't play correct. It tries to open in Windows Media Player and has a few frames of movie but then gets stuck but the sound continues properly. Then I tried changing the setting to duplicate what I have for a file type and it opens in Quicktime Player but the movie looks choppy and seems to be like a skipping record visually but the sound seems ok. Here is my native file type as shown by the Video ReMaker:

MyFile.MP4 H264/AVC (Advanced Video Coding) 1280x960 29.97 FPS MPEG2/4 Audio 48000 HZ 2 Channel

Any suggestions?

My original file is an WMV screen-recorder output, at 1192x800 with 284kbps.

I import it in Video Editor to put an introduction frame at beginning. I save the movie with the same settings as original (same size and bitrate). But for some reason it always shrinks the output frame slightly which distorts the output video.

I've attached screenshot of original and output. Why does this happen? I've tried saving in many different formats, they all do that. I want to save it the same format WMV, I just need to insert a frame at start and save.

How can I resolve this issue please?

Sorry, but you've attach just black screenshots. We cannot see the problem.

Could you please attach screenshots of your original wmv file properties. You can see file properties selecting the file in Media Library of AVS Video Editor, clicking right mouse button on it and choosing Properties in the context menu. Also, please attach the screenshots of output settings which you select saving the file.

Been messing with a few settings to convert films to MP4 to view on my HTC Desire and was wondering if anyone out there has any ideas.

I have currently set screen to 480x800 with frames at 30fps and bitrate at 1600.

Convertion seems OK for now but is showing as needing about 3 hours to convert.

Any one else had a go at settings for HTC Desire and what was the outcome?

Hello Billy,
The settings you selected to convert your video for use on HTC Desire are quite correct (MP4 format, 30 fps frame rate, 480x800 frame size), but you can lessen the bitrate of the video to 800 - 1000 kbps, that will not influence the quality a lot while playing the video on our device, besides the convertion process will take less time.
To fasten the convertion process you can also convert your video to 3GP format (with the above mentioned settings).
The convertion process depends on your PC configurations, the format and origin of the file you are trying to convert, as well as the duration of it.

I am trying to take a screen capture video, edit it and save it in the exact same format for small placing on the web for download, not streaming.

The screen capture was recorded using the latest version of Camstudio

The captured video from camstudio is of excellent quality no matter how I scale it, in vlc or windows media, but when I edit the video in AVS Video Editor and then save the edited video to the same specifications my resulting video is of extremely low quality and larger, even though I have removed or shrunk certain areas of the edited video.

Problem seems to be with AVS' H264 default codec, found that the x264vfw-H.254/MPEG-4 AVC codec was added to the list of available conversion codecs in the AVS Video Editor and ended up using it. Here are my results

The x264vfw provides watchable video right down to the 5fps, where as the AVS codec appears as an abstract art piece at 10 fps

AVS4YOU software uses the codecs installed on your PC, you can try to reinstall the H.264 codec on your PC and it will be automatically updated in AVS Video Editor.
As for quality of the video created - you can try to set the following parameters for the output video to be the same as in input file - video bitrate, frame rate, frame size - thus the video created will be of better quality.

You can select the settings of the output file by clicking on the Advanced button after choosing the format for the output.
By right clicking on video file in the media library of AVS Video Editor - choose Properties to see the parameters of th input file.

Please inform about the result.

Because my HDTV (Philips) can't find the AVI movies on my USB I have to convert them to MPEG4.
But what's the best setting to save the same quality as AVI.
I'm trying all night but the results don't satisfy me at all!!
I surely wanna use only USB to watch my movies, I won't use a DVDplayer or so.
It's because I wanna use the TV for exhibitions.
