Hello,

Unfortunately, there is no temp file to recover your work if you have not saved it as vep project file (menu File>Save Project File as). We apologize for the inconvenience caused. To prevent the problem in future please enable autosave for your project in AVS Video Editor>Edit>Settings>General>Enable Autosave.

To avoid crashing please reinstall AVS software following the instructions here.

Best regards.

Hi Vlad,

thanks for the reply.

I thought you might say that.

I am going through the uninstall process you suggested.
I have downloaded the latest avs "all" pack.
Unable to delete one folder in c:\program files\common files\avsmedia\activex is-615BI.bak
every other file and registry settings are gone.

I noticed that in my profile there is a directory that is from avs .. cache. just had a look for it and it seems the uninstall has removed it.
there where files in that directory that had an unusual extension name but if I renamed them to avi they would play normally. I couldn't find the file I was working on just other various section of the file I worked on.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I will turn on the auto back up.. may I suggest that this is turned on by default in future updates.

Cheers.

The file c:\program files\common files\avsmedia\activex is-615BI.bak will be delete after reboot.

As for cache files, some HD video files are cached to lower quality format for faster preveiw. Unfortunately, it is not possible to recover the project using them. Once again, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I recently downloaded AVS Video Editor 6.1. I had been looking around the forums for a solution to the problem and I believed I had found one. I, like many users, have a Hauppauge HD PVR that says in M2TS format. I looked on the forums and came across a download/patch, posted by forum Ad. Vlad, that supposedly fixed the problem. The patch helped a lot, but whenever I scrub (fast forward, scroll, rewind, etc.) on a video, the project box on the right (the preview of the footage) side of the editor will freeze; resulting in a fatal error.

The error report is as follows:

Problem Event Name: AppHangB1
Application Name: AVSVideoEditor.exe
Application Version: 6.1.2.211
Application Timestamp: 00000000
Hang Signature: bd9c
Hang Type: 16385
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Hang Signature 1: bd9cd6aca906030b56129ff75f9a78d5
Additional Hang Signature 2: b8cf
Additional Hang Signature 3: b8cff9bc166d6b95efb4ff4c51513114
Additional Hang Signature 4: ff9c
Additional Hang Signature 5: ff9cfea5dacd560a6458b564499e88d5
Additional Hang Signature 6: 8395
Additional Hang Signature 7: 83953a6b4e732ebeca1d003c5014c399

In the even that there is no fix to this problem, would the editor work if I saved my HD PVR files in a different format? I wish not to do that, but if it is the only solution, I am willing. I am looking forward to hearing of any possible solutions.

Also, if you would like one of my files that I am dealing with, I would be glad to attach it.

Yours,
Trei

Hello,

Please unzip and save the attached files in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\AVS4YOU\AVSVideoEditor

Then, please work with AVS Vdieo Editor once again and when the problem appears wait until our error message pops up (around one minute). Send us a screenshot of an error message you got and bug report (through Send report option).

Please attach a screenshot of your PC configuration: right-click My Computer, choose Properties, make a screenshot of the General tab.

Best regards.

1. The first screenshot is the one you requested for info on my PC. There was not a "General" tab. I hope that is what you wanted.

2. I followed your instructions, and the only error message that pops up is the one that I stated in the previous message. I do not see any other error message(s). There is a white box that pops up and appears to be relation to AVS, but nothing occurs after the box appears. The second picture will be of that.

3. I have encountered another error in which the same type of problem occurs. Whenever I scrub through the video while in "Multi-Trim", AVS crashes.

Thank you for the reply and your patience with my dilemma.

Yours,
Trei

The one that occurs most often just happened. It does not allow me to take a screenshot while it is up. It reads:
External Exception EEFFACE.

It appears in roughly 50 JavaScript boxes, repeatedly.

Please find the attached utility, unzip it and run it on your PC - try to restart the software and inform us about results please. If the issue remains please try to edit the same file in AVS Video Converter.

Best regards

It occurs with all M2TS files. There are not any issues with other file formats. I can apply trim. The problem is, I will randomly be told that AVS Video Converter has stopped working while I am trimming or scrubbing.

I have not used AVS for a long while, and recently had my software fully updated and went into a couple of projects. I noticed that after working with it for a while, sometime it would stop Importing JPG, MP3 files, saying something to do with format not supported etc. message. Sometime the system would simple crash and burn.

Each time, restarting the software after closing down, things then work again, until the next crash, which would normally be long enough for me to do a few things. It is annoying, anyone have any ideas?

Hello,

To avoid the problem please completely uninstall AVS4YOU software from your PC. Instructions below:

1. Go Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Uninstall. Please make sure to click the "Check All" button.

2. Follow the link below and download the utility that will automatically remove all AVS software components from your PC. Save the utility on your computer and launch it. It is highly recommended to leave the default option "Delete license key-files" checked:
http://support.avs4you.com/GetFile.aspx?DocumentID=168498-647

3. Download the latest versions of the necessary programs from our website:
http://avs4you.com/downloads.aspx
