Hello,

Could you please specify the format and origin of video files you work with? I suppose they have TS format...

When exactly does the program crashes? At what stage?

Regards.

I'm trying to edit *.m2ts files.

It usually crashes after importing the file when I'm trying to edit it. I've waited until it's done cache'ing the file but it still crashes. It never lets me trim the first couple minutes off and save the project.

I've tried editing files that were successfully edited with Video Editor 5 but 6.1.2.211 crashes with those too.

The files, which are in the exact same format as Video Editor has been editing for years, are captured via a Hauppauge HD PVR, 8MB Bit Rate, 2-channel (AC3) audio.

Is there someplace from which I can download the last Video Editor 5 so I can get back to work on my videos? This problem with six has me stopped and I need to get these things edited.

Now why didn't I think of that :P

I followed your above instructions, plus rebooted after step 2. Video Editor 6.1.2.211 still crashes. The first crash yielded the "External exception EEEFACE" error. Error details for the second crash appear at the bottom of this message.

As I said in my first post:

I apologize for not being clear about what I meant by "full de-install then re-install" -- I uninstalled, then deleted everything in the c:\Program Files (x86)\AVS4YOU directory and subdirectories, rebooted, then installed the latest copy of 6.1.2.211

I don't suppose you could make the last version of Video Editor 5 available for download while you continue your heroic efforts to track down the bug(s)?

Please?

Pretty please?

Pretty please with sugar on top?

Aw c'mon folks, would it really mortally wound you to make Video Editor 5 available for folks to use while you valiantly struggle against the vile bugs infesting V 6 ?

Pretty please with sugar, chocolate and whipped cream on top?

Hello,

There seems to be the problem working with certain m2ts files captured via Hauppage HD PVR. What is total size of your m2ts files for the project?

Regards.

The two files I've been trying to work on are 2,014,993 KB and 2,229,089 KB.

The file I had worked on just fine with Video Editor 5, that I also used to crash Video Editor 6.1.2.211 is 7,958,833 KB.

In addition to the 8 GB of RAM in my system I also use two ReadyBoost-capable thumb drives, one 8GB and one 16GB.

Please try disabling Intel Media codec in top menu Edit>Settings>Processing>Codecs>Disabled. After doing this you should restart the program and try working with your files once again.

Please inform us about the results.

Unfortunately, AVS Video Editor 5 is not longer available on our website. We are sorry about the problem in new version. I can assure you we will do our best to solve it. We need your m2ts files to fix the problem. Please upload one of them to our ftp-server, the instructions will be given to you in our support system.

Regards.

Thank you for the file and all the information submitted.
I have just forwarded your file and the description of the problem to the developers.
Now they will analyse it, make necessary corrections if the error is reproduced or find another solution,
but this will take some time, of course.

As soon as the answer for you is ready, I will notify you at once.

and making video editor 5 available for download is, of course, impossible eh?

I'm downloading version 5.1.2.131 via bit torrent - anyone know of a later/better version available via bit torrent?

Yea, I hear ya.

If I could find another editing program that did the multi-pass when encoding H.264 I'd pounce on it.

hope you didn't get NCH video pad that is horrible with NO support!! none nada didn't know that avs4YOU had this software available. Great support. Of source with upgrades some bugs will raise their nasty little heads. And if you were to save old install files on WHS you would have a copy,
