if i´ll use this product with another file type than the *.ifo files on an video dvd (for example *.avi *.mpg and all the other types) I only see this error message :"Access violation at address 68701A22 in module ´avscodesc.dll´. Write of address 800702AA."

BTW, Version 5.6 works perfect.

Hi,

I use Video Converter 6 on XP and try to convert multiple flv's into m4v's and I just cannot get the batch mode to work -- the program keeps crashing on 3-rd or 4-th file. I can reproduce the error with 3 specific files, when I try with the split option off (merge them into 1). But it happens with the split option on as well.
When I convert files one by one, it works OK. Sometimes 2, 3 or even 5 will go without an issue.
Also, when I reproduce the error with 3 specific files, it doesn't crash on the same spot each time -- sometimes it reaches 70%, sometimes 90%.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Ola

OK, I figured something out: it's not the amount of the files, it's a memory leak.
The overall size of the files matters, not the amount. It can crash on a single file, too, if the file is bigger than 100MB or so. I checked in the task manager, during the conversion the memory size and the VM size constantly increase, and the memory size hovers around the same size as the write IO size -- meaning, that basically the process keeps in memory everything it writes into the file. When it reaches 100MB or so -- crash, access violation.

Maybe I should try earlier versions?

Hello Ola,

Thank you very much for the information. That was really a bug, and we fixed it.

The updated version of the AVS Video Converter 6 will be available on the site in some days.

But at the moment you can download the attached AVSFLVFile3.dll and place it following:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVSMedia\ActiveX

Please inform us about the result.

Best Regards

(The .dll has been deleted, as it has been included into the latest update. Update AVS files following Start > Programs > AVS4YOU > AVS Update Manager)

Didn't that file download need to have the "3" removed from the name?

After you pasted the dll into the appropriate folder, you will be asked whether you want to overwrite/replace it. Say YES

*SUPER*
