I have been using Video Editor successfully for about a year now with no problems importing AVI files up over 1Gb in size. However, all of a sudden I cannot import any AVI file over 300Mb. When I try, I get a "File Format Error." (See attached screen shot). Even previous AVS Editor Projects will not load with a video any longer. I have uninstalled all AVS applications, used your registry cleaner and then reinstalled AVS Video Editor 5. It does not work. The farthest I can get is using verion 4.2 and that's when I get the "File Format Error." I am running 64 bit Windows 7 on a Samsung R480 with an Intel i3 chip.

Please help.

Thanks,

Bob

Hello,

In order to solve this problem please repair AVS files:

1. Close all AVS programs and other running applications.

2. Follow Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Repair.

If some of the .dlls are not registered, please make a screenshot of the Repair window showing those files and send it to us.

Best regards.

Hi, I ran the repair (see screenshot) and the problem remains. I can import a smaller AVI like the attached screen shot of a 660Mb AVI (see screenshot), however, large AVI files such as the 1.6GB file I get the error message (see screen shot).

Look forward to more ideas to try.
Thanks
Bob

This inability to import large (e.g., 1.7gb AVI files) exists also with Video Converter or Video Remaker. With Converter, it converts the large AVi file in like 3 seconds, says it's complete and then the converted file is only 1 or 2 kb big, basically empty. It works with smaller AVI files like 500gb. WIth the Video Remaker, it gives a Memory Error.

Could you please specify the origin of your avi video files? Are you able to see one of such AVI file properties in any video player software? Could you please attach its properties?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards.

Vlad,
The file is 1.65gb and properties are attached. The AVI file come from video from an AiM SmartyCam video camera. The AVI opens in any other video player like AVS or editer like Microsoft Movie Maker. The AVI files work in your software if they are smaller, like 800Mb in Video Editor 4. In Video editor 5, the video has to be a smaller size file and plays poorly, very jerky. Large files give a "Memory Error." Large AVI's also do not convert in your Video Converter. This problem with AVI files seems to be well know for awhile with AVS, I'm finding forum issues back to 2008 on this. http://forum.avs4you.com/posts.aspx?t=576&lng=ENG

Thanks

Hello Bob,

Sorry for the delay and thank you for the details.

Seems that it is the problem working with large files from AiM SmartyCam. Could you please upload one such file which is not loaded to our ftp-server. The instructions will be given to your in our support system.

By the way if you have old versions of AVS programs installed, like AVS Video Editor 4. etc, please uninstall them.

Best regards.

Dear user,

Please try to provide some additional information about the issue so we could assist you:
- specify the program you use and its version,
- describe your actions step by step,
- specify the format and origin of the file you need to convert and if it can be played on any of your PC players without any problems.

Thank you for cooperation.

Kind regards
