When I used the slow motion feature on a video I just posted to YouTube...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOJjHsjL0NU

...it ended up rendering in a very jerky fashion. As it worked out, the beat of the music more or less matched the staccato beat of the video, but I would like to know if there's a way to smooth out the flow. FYI, I used the maximum setting for slowing the video.

I shot the original clips at 1/1000th of a second, which I hoped would make the slow-mo smooth, but no luck.

Can you help?

Could you right-click the original file imported into the media library and open the Properties window. Please attach a screenshot of this window to your post here. We'll try to clear up the problem.

Best regards

Here's a screen shot of one of the clips, chosen at random.

As a follow-up test, I took another short clip and applied the .5x and then the .3x speed adjustment. Perhaps predictably, the .5x was fairly smooth, while the .3x showed definite evidence of jerkiness. Nowhere nearly as bad, of course, as the .1x of the YouTube clip. I rendered both in the wmv format, using the 2nd HD setting (720p).

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts -- and, I hope, solution. Thanks.

I just uploaded another test video on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgpD7KMSgF0

This clip shows the same scene in .5x, .4x, .3x, .2x, and .1x. I forgot to mention that I chose the maximum magnification (zoom) setting the software offered. Would that have an impact on the smoothness of the video?

We have done some testing on a file with the settings close to yours, but have not managed to reproduce the problem. Could you possibly send us one of your MTS files for testing. I'll submit the uploading instructions on the support page.

Regards
