It took hours to figure this out but here is the problem.
(1) I needed a new computer. I have been using AVS Video Editor for many years and it is easy to use, to understand and does the job that it needs to do.
(2) AVS Video Editor always worked perfectly so I backed up all my files and all the VEPs to an outside hard drive
(3) I purchased a new computer.
(4) I uploaded all my files and all the VEPs to the new computer.
(5) I downloaded another AVS4YOU to the new computer.
(6) AVS installed and worked as good as the other so I continued making movies for Youtube.
(7) I needed to modify one of Youtube videos and that is when I noticed that the new AVS would no longer open any of the previously made VEP files.
(8) This did not make any sense to me so I conversed with AVS about this but never was given a fix for it. I was told the same old story that if files are deleted or moved, this will happen. Once my video is created, I move nothing. All files are left as is or was.
(9) What I was never told is that if all my Video Editor files (VEPs) were moved, even to a new computer, AVS VEPs would no longer work. THIS SHOULD be explained on your website that if you install a new version OR buy a new computer and buy a new AVS4YOU, you are screwed. Any and All other software programs will see and recognize previously made files, but not AVS Video Editor.
(9) So, to this day, if I need to modify any of my youtube videos (which are well over one hundred) I have to modify it with the MP3 file. This is not easy nor good.
(10) In the latest messages to and from myself and AVS, I asked that if I buy another new AVS4YOU, will this happen again. Of course, that question was never answered with a yes or no, just roundabouts. I had to discover this on my own.
(11) It is ridiculous to think that AVS did not know about this. It is even more ridiculous that AVS did not create a fix for this.
(12) I copied ALL my new video editing and edited files to a flash drive and took it to a friend who also uses AVS4YOU. NONE of my new VEPs would work. All would say files are missing even though they are still in the exact spot where they were. Only difference is a different AVS4YOU.
One other thing - as said below, just open it under WEB.. that is lie. They keep saying things like third-party application. They are their own third-party.
