Hello,

Error 256 usually may occur if you selected incorrect output directory - i.e. disc drive, etc. Please check your output directory in Output File Name field and select it on your hard drive using Browse button.

We also advise you to follow recommendations posted on the forum:

ubmuc:
Make sure, not only the output PATH is correct, but also it contains a valid filename and EXTENSION.
Example:
Outputfile: I:\anypath\filename -> error 256
Outputfile: I:\anypath\filename.m4v -> works fine

I am having the same error code 256 when trying to convert a video file to dvd format. I have thew newest version of the software and have followed both recommendations that have been posted by Lex.

Does anyone have any further help/tips on this issue?

Hello,

In order to avoid error 256, please check the correctness of the output folder. Please note that the output folder should be storred on the hard drive disk.

If the issue remains please completely uninstall AVS4YOU software from your PC. Instructions below:

1. Go Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Uninstall. Please make sure to click the "Check All" button.

2. Follow this link and download the utility that will automatically remove all AVS software components from your PC. Save the utility on your computer and launch it. It is highly recommended to leave the default option "Delete license key-files" checked.

3. Download the latest versions of the necessary programs from our website
Now install the software on your PC anew.

Best regards.
