Which program do you use to play the file? Which version of the program?
If this is AVS Video Converter, please could you make a screenshot of the Advanced window of the program (File Information tab) to get information on your input and output file parameters.

Is the video jumpy in the preview window only? What if you convert the movie, is the output file also incorrect?

I have a similar problem - I am trying to edit 720p videos and it is almost impossible because the edit preview is very disjointed. If I save movie and play it with real player it is fine - it's just the edit preview within AVS Video Editor 4 that is running slow.

Could you please provide some information on your PC system: specify RAM, processor etc. You can use AVS System Info in order to generate a report. Also specify the format of the files you are trying to edit.

I recently reported via email to AVS Support two problems I'm having with AVS Video Editor 4.2.166, but have not heard from anyone yet; the problems are:

(Processor: Core i7 CPU; RAM 2.5 Gb)

1. I'm making a movie using .MOV clips. Initially everything is was looking good; then as I continued to edit the clips, I noticed they suddenly started jumping as the movie is running. I have no idea why this is happening. I realized this same problem was raised in this forum but I haven't read of a resolution, so I would like to know if anyone knows how to solve this problem. Can anyone help me?

2. My other problem is whenever I try to save my movie, using the "Save Movie" option In AVS Video Editor, following all the prompts, the program makes an attempt to save the movie, but after saving about 15% to 25% of the movie, it stops and informs me that due to an error it is closing down, and then it freezes. This has been happening since I started using the software on 8/27. Again, can anyone help me with this problem.

Are you working with HD videos?
There may be a problem with preview player on some video files. (HD and uncompressed for example)
At that moment I'd recommend to reinstall the program following the instructions
If it doesn't help, make a screenshot of the error message and attach it here.

I'm having similar problems, but it's not just the edit window that's jumpy, it's the saved video afterwards as well.
They seem to work when I use them in a DVD project, but the video files themselves are useless for anything else.

Input file:
H.264 video from a Samsung Camcorder
720x480 resolution
5948 kbps bitrate

Output file:
MPEG2 from the "Video MPEG2" preset
modified bitrate to match input file
720x480 resolution

System Specs:
3.16GHz Core2
4 GB Ram
Windows XP Pro
Fresh install of latest AVS4YOU apps
Fresh install of K-Lite codec pack

Well, I at least resolved my problems with jumpy video.

The source files need to be on a local drive that is fairly quick. My source files were on a network drive that was fairly quick, but apparently not quick enough. I copied the files to a local SATA II drive and converted again. The jumpiness went away.

Developers: You might want to put some buffering in place, or pause the conversion and writing process so it can handle slower source data feeds. Realistically the network drive should have been fast enough for this to work with it.

I'm having the same problem. My saved movies lags exactly as in the preview. Editing HD movies from my Go PRO HD cam.

Got a 2.8ghz QUAD processor, 4gb DDR2 ram, Win 7.

Video input file is (.MP4):
1280 * 720
29,97 fps
7998,196 kbps bitrate
Codec: H.264/AVC

Please install the latest version of AVS Video Converter. As a result, components of both AVS Video Converter and AVS Video Editor will get updated and no such problems should persist afterwards.

I was having these effects from 1280X720p HD from a CountourHD (vholdr.com). They showed in both the preview and the mpeg final product. This upgrade removed essentially all the jump-freeze-continue-(repeat) which I could see in both preview and mpeg. You folks have a real chore keeping all those megabits flowing smoothly.

I just purchased a video camera for work. I learned from the sales rep that the manufacturers are no longer making the SD cameras, and are selling out their inventory. Have you heard this too?

We've heard that the manufacturers are now focused on producing cameras which support SDHC (SD High Capacity) cards allowing you to store more information. Accordingly, the old camcorders supporting SD memory cards won't recognize the new SDHC ones, therefore there is no practical need to keep producing the established models.

I've just finished making a video using AVS 4.2 but the sound and and video has become all jumpy when I put them together - in the media library both sound and video play fine but together it makes very hard watching, and I can't show anyone what I've done.
I'm pretty sure the issue is to do with the fact that the video and audio files are being played together, but is there any way I can avoid this problem? It only jumps when I play them together.

Hello,

First of all, we would advise to add audio tracks to the project at the end of working with it, after all effects and edits have been applied to video.

Also it can be that your computer is not powerfull enough to handle your files. So please specify the format and origin of your source audio and video files. Also please inform us about your PC configuration (Operating System, CPU, Ram).

I've got to admit - I'm no good at computers!!
But.
I can see my video files are SDC (sorry if that's not right) and I imported them from my digital camera.
My video files are wave sound and... oh and also says SDC.
Will try adding all sound after finshed editing but I also looked at the computer system properties. It's (and I quote) 3.00 GHz, 2.99 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM. It runs on Microsoft Windows XP version 2002 and it says Pentium [R] 4 CPU.
Sorry I can't help any more and thanks for replying so quickly.
