Hello,

I have a Canon HD camera and it uses MTS files as it's resident filetype for movies. I tried opening one of these files in AVS Converter and it stated that the media type is unsupported.

Both your website and the program itself states that MTS is supported.

What am I missing?

Just change the MTS extension to read "mpg" and it works perfectly!

What I should hav added is you can import the resulting mpg file straight into the Editor, no need to convert. just start editing!!!

Hello Nadin,
I have a serious problem that I hope you can help me with ASAP - as I really need to edit some video. I recently purchased AVS Video Converter because the demo worked for my needs, now I am trying to do the same type of conversion and I get the error message "Video Format Is Unsupported."
I have attempted an update of the software, and it has not fixed the problem. I am trying to convert a .MTS format video to .WAV, but no matter what I try to convert it to, it does not allow the file to be used. I have no idea what to do and am feeling very upset that once I purchased the license to the software, I suddenly cannot use it :( The size of the .MTS file is not too big, maybe about 260mb. Please let me know what you want me to do. If you want me to upload the file to you via FTP, please give me the instructions to access your server. Thank you for your time and please get back to me soon.

Best,

Mr. Ariel Adams

Try saving the .dlls available in the folllowing thread (post#5401). If this does not help, we'd need the source file for testing. I'll send you the instruction per e-mail.

Thanks for the info. on converters. However as I continuously import my MTS/M2TS files straight into the Editor without any problems I see no point in carrying out a lossy conversion first. I cannot understand why this software works perfectly for me (In this respect) and others have so much trouble. My PC is nothing out of the ordinary with a dual core processor and just 2 Gb RAM, not a lot in this day and age.
BTW I can use the AVS Video Converter 6.3 to convert my MTS/M2TS to any of the selected formats. I wonder if this problem is to do with the camera firmware. I think I am right in saying that although all HD cameras save to MTS that is only a packing for mpeg files and these can be very different from one camera to the next. Although I use a Canon HG10 I see someone else in this forum has the same model. I wonder if checking the updates for camera software would help those having problems?

Hello,
i've the same trouble ...

I'm using a Canon LEGRIA HFS21 and when i try to upload the video with .MTS extension on AVS Video Editor ( v. 6.3.1.231 ) video editor seems to be in crash and isn't able to play (in the preview windows ...) the file with .MTS extension ... due to the difference between Windows x86 and Windows x64 can be this one a thing to pay attention ?

Still working at best with all other kind of files with other extensions ...

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Kind Regards

Massimiliano Fabbro.

Dear Massimiliano,

Thank you for the detailed description of the problem.

To analyse the problem we need your source .MTS file. I sent you the instructions on how to upload the file on our FTP server using AVS Sypport System. Please follow this link to track your questions.
