I've used AVS in the past but just upgraded to new version and I used to be able to hook my video camera up and import the video for conversion to mpeg. With this newer version I can't find where to set up the import data to s-video or composit where I used to use to import. Help.

Hello,

Do you use AVS Video Editor program? There is Capture option which allows to captuer video from camera or s-video and composite inputs in capture card.

Please find the details about it here.

I hope it helps.

Regards.

Hello,

To capture video from VHS machine you have to have the capture AV Device (AV Input) on your laptop. That can be an external capture device or an internal one.

Then you have to connect your VHS machine to the capture device, via RCA slots or USB. When the device is connected to your laptop, start capturing using AVS Video Capture software.

To start capturing, please:
1. Launch AVS Video Capture
2. Select a video device and set up its parameters
3. Choose an audio device and set up its parameters.
4. Change the output file settings, its name and output folder.
5. Start capturing!

For more detailed information please follow that link to AVS Online Help.

Best Regards.

I am using the video capture to transfer from VHS.

All is well except my audio is not matching when peoples mouth is moving.

So you hear the audio and then the action happens on the video.

Could this be a setting of some sort?

Hello everyone:

In the past I've used a Panasonic VHS-DVD machine and when the VHS contents exceeded the DVD storage the Pano requested a new DVD to be inserted (it would finalize each disk).

I no longer have the Pano and now I'd like to use AVS Video Recorder software instead.

My questions are:

1. when I'm recording/capturing a VHS tape does AVS video recorder make one larger AVI or MPG file?
2. when the contents of the AVI or MPG file is larger than a single DVD how does AVS video recorder handle this?

Also, I assume I have to purchase some sort of hardware connecting the VCR to my computer and I was wondering what it is and if anyone had a recommendation?

That's it and thanks.

IG.

Hello,

AVS Video Recorder allows to capture video and convert it to various formats. Please follow our instructions.
Please note, if the file is too big you will be offered to shrink or to split DVD.

Best regards.

Regarding what you have said, what you mean by splitting or shrinking the video file. Do you mean that we have to decrease it's resolution? Thanks.

Hello,

By shrinking we mean that the video size will be reduced and by splitting we mean that the video will be burned on to 2 or more discs

I found the instructions to convert VHS to DVD at http://www.avs4you.com/guides/How-to-convert-VHS-tapes-to-DVD-format.aspx and they say the following:

If you use an external video capture board supplied with RCA and S-Video jacks, the best way to link the devices is to connect the VHS recorder/player S-Video output with the video capture board S-Video input using the corresponding cable so to relay a video signal. To relay an audio signal use an RCA cable, connecting your VHS recorder/player RCA output with the video capture device RCA input but employing white and red jacks only. And then use a USB cable to connect the external video capture board to the computer USB port.

Maybe it is me, but that makes no sense at all. Please interpret or put it in terms I can understand. Thank you.
