Is there any way to convert from various video files while still maintaining the subtitles from the original? I bought the lifetime rights to use this software without realizing that this would be a problem. I hope there's some way to do it!

Hello,

Subtitles are supported by AVS Video to Go. After the Open button is pressed and the video is loaded there will be a subtitle option.

You can also use AVS Video Converter for converting multi-lingual DVD. To select the necessary audio track, click << Advanced button twice and in the field below select the audio track in the combo box. For more information, please follow that link.

I have a bit of an issue with AVS Video Converter 6. I have ripped a couple of movies from DVD and converted to PSP Standard Quality. Problem is I can only play probably half of the movie on the PSP before it stops with the message "cannot play video". This happens with both movies.

Nothing shows up in the subtitles box... does it matter that's it's an .mkv file? Shouldn't there be a way to split the file into the various components?

By that I mean that I downloaded the video to go program, and when I select the video file, the subtitle box remains empty, nothing is selectable. Am I doing something wrong? When I watch the file on VLC there ARE subtitles... how is this possible?

Unfortunately subtitles in mkv format are not supported by AVS software.
In fact subtitles are supported in DVD format only at the moment.

I have 2 seperate files. 1. video( ental avi)and 1 subtitle(ental.srt)
how do i convert to dvd to play on my dvd player/recorder and pc.
I have both converter 6 and avs to Go

I need specific instructions as I am not too familiar with all the various terms and tend to get confused.
When I try to add additional file to 6 it tells me wrong file format/name. Have changed names to be exactly same except for extension..still does not work. With AVS to go subtitle option is blank and locked.
These files work on vlc player and i guess would work on winamp if I placed them into one file but naming files gets complicated and confuses me. help

Hello,

The .srt files are supported by AVS software as subtitles, both by AVS Video Converter 6 and AVS Video to Go.

So, please make sure, that:
1. that the video file and the .srt file have the same name
2. that both files are placed in the same folder.

You do not have to add the .srt file to the converter, but it will be uploaded automatically , in case if you keep the rules above.

I recently burned an .avi file to DVD, adding subtitles via an .srt file. The subtitles showed up on the burn, but they are too low, and cut off. Is there a way to adjust the placement of the subtitles?

I would like to ask you one issue about AVS converter v.6.
I speak Portuguese, so I need subtitles in Portuguese to watch American or English movies. Is there a way to convert video format, keeping the subtitle from the original one? For example, files .VOB to AVI, or AVI to Ipod video.
When I try to convert formats, the subtitles from the original video disappears in the converted video.

This is a bit of a blindside. I had the same problem. I got the program and lifetime membership precisely to convert subtitled MKV files to avi. I did a trial with the download before ordering and when the subtitles appeared on the opening credits, I didn't think to look any further. I take it there are some processes that give translatable subtitles and others that don't. Are there plans to support subtitles from MKV any time in the near future? If not, is there a way to get my money back?

Actually the latest version of AVS Video Converter does recognize internal subtitles from MKV files. The post by Dam you quote in your message has been submitted quite a long time ago. Since then we have updated the software and there should not persist any problems as regards to internal sutitles.

The subtitles available in the track can be selected by clicking on Advanced > File Information in the program and choosing the appropriate setting in Subpicture > Track field (see screenshot).

In case the subtitles are not converted with your MKV file using the latest version of AVS Video Converter, please could you send us this file for testing. I will contact you on the support page with the instruction.

Whoops...replied to the wrong one. Bad morning.

This is great news. I'd love to try it out, but it appears AVS has cancelled my subscription without warning. Could someone please find out what's going on and rectify this.
