Dear user,

Can you playback the input file on any of your PC players? Can it be played without any problems?

Please specify the program you use and its version.

Thank you for cooperation.

Kind regards

I have TiVo desktop and use this to download shows so I can watch them on my lunch break. They are originally in .Tivo format and I use DirectShowDump in order to convert them to .mpg format. After this, I want to remove commercials and make the file size smaller (most hour long shows are about 5-6GB). I use AVS Video Editor to do this. However, after doing this for about 10-15 episodes, I went back to finish up the rest I had in .mpg format. Now I get a file format error for any of these videos I try to import to the program. I'm using Windows 7 Professional with a 64-Bit operating system. I looked to see what other programs I have downloaded in the last few days and they are all legit, though may have caused some interference? I uninstalled several to no avail (Flash update, Citrix, Apple device updater...). Suggestions on what else I can try? I can play back the files just fine in Windows Media Player, but want to be able to put the files on my iPad.

Dear user,

To avoid the problem please completely uninstall AVS4YOU software from your PC following the instructions below:

1. Go Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Uninstall. Please make sure to click the "Check All" button.

2. Follow this link and download the utility that will automatically remove all AVS software components from your PC. Save the utility on your computer and launch it.

3. Download and install the latest versions of the necessary programs from our website:
http://avs4you.com/downloads.aspx

Now try to use the program and inform about the result.

Will this lose any license keys or anything? I feel like I didn't need a license key this last time I downloaded it (got a new hard drive a few months back and lost most programs). If so, is there a way to find that key somewhere so I can take a screenshot? I will attempt what you suggested after work today.

Found license key so that's not a problem. Followed your steps but problem persists. Uninstalled all AVS programs and then reinstalled only the Video Editor part from link provided. When adding file, still getting File Format Error message. Can't figure out why it happened all of a sudden. Only things installed recently were update from Apple and an Adobe update. Would these affect anything?

Dear user,

Sorry for the delay in reply and thank you for the information.

Please try to repair AVS files:

1. Close all AVS programs and other running applications.
2. Copy the following link to the address bar of My computer window and press <Enter>:

If you run 32bit PC: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\AVSMedia\ActiveX\Repairing.exe
If you run 64bit PC: %COMMONPROGRAMFILES(x86)%\AVSMedia\ActiveX\Repairing.exe

If some of the .dlls are not registered, please make a screenshot of the Repair window showing those files and send it to us.

Please also specify if you can playback the input video on any of your PC players without any problems.

Specify the origin of the files you are trying to edit.

Thank you for cooperation.

Kind regards

Ran the 64 bit version: it ran quickly and all said "success." I have no problem playing back the original files in my VLC player and Windows Media Player. When you say "origin" of the files, I assume you are asking where I have them stored on my computer when I drag them into the AVS Program? I am just storing them in My Videos.

If you are asking where they originally came from, I explained that in my initial post. I will copy/paste that part of the description here.

Hope this gives you some direction. The weirdest part is that it worked just fine and then suddenly didn't. I don't think I even rebooted my computer in between times when it stopped working. Really bizarre.

I've been trying to access this FTP server a couple times this morning. Each time it tells me it can't connect to the server. When I try just clicking on the link you sent me (in Internet Explorer) it tells me that the page can't be displayed. I know last night when I tried to get to the AVS Support page it said your server was busy. Maybe there is something going on at your end that isn't allowing me to upload my file to you?

downloaded the FileZilla program you sent me, but honestly have no idea how to work it. I followed the instructions to input your server address and the passwords you sent me in the top part and tried to "Quick Connect" but am not sure if this is what I was supposed to do. Even if it connected, I don't know how to send the file. Would I drag and drop it to the right side? I've attached a screen shot.

Dear user,

Please check the login and password for the FTP server and press the Quick Connect button.

When you are connected you need to right click on the file "Hart of Dixie" (on your screenhsot) and choose Upload. Soon you will see the file on the right column.

You can upload the file via DropBox or other online services you use.

Please inform us as soon as the file is uploaded.

Thank you for cooperation.

Kind regards
