Hello. I am new to the forum and just started using this software. My goal is to convert my DVD collection to mpg and put everything on a large 2TB HDD. I will then use my Western Digital WDTV Player to play these movies from my HDD to my HDTV.

Question 1

I see is the extremely slow speed. I am curently in the process of converting a full length movie to mpg. I started over 2.5 hrs ago and the status bar indicates only 4.37% progress. WoW! Is this typical?

Here are my computer specifics:

Windows Version XP Home Edition
Service Pack Level Service Pack 3
Display Resolution 1280x1024
CPU Type / Speed Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1700MHz / 1693MHz
Total Memory 1025MB
C: Drive Free Space 51139MB

Short of using a faster machine is there something I can do to speed up this process?

Question 2
Although the original movie has 6 channel audio, there is no option in the software to covert to anything but 2 channel. Is there a way to convert and get all 6 channels of audio?

Many thanks*SOS*:-)

Actually we would not recommend you to convert your DVDs to HD. There are a couple of reasons why.

Firstly, the output file won`t have real HD quality, as 720x480 image will be stretched out to 1920x1080. This is the same way automatically done by a player, for ex., when you try to playback DVD in HDTV.

Secondly, it really takes a lot of time to convert to HD, regardless of the software, as the resolution is 1920x1080, not 720x480 or less typical for the other formats.

Finally, our software does not let you convert to HD keeping all the channels, unfortunately (this issue has already been discussed within the following topic).

Best regards

If I use the Video converter to convert a DVD created by the Video Editor to flv, I get an flv file but it only contains audio.

Any suggestions?

Ok solved my probkem, needed the proper codec installed. So Video Converter now works but AVS Video to Flash still creates files without video!

Any more ideas?

Try downloading both H.263 and H.264 codecs, as whereas AVS Video To Flash converts to H.263, AVS Video Converter converts either to H.263, or to H.264. So this might solve the problem.
