Hello

Im using AVS Video Editor 6.5

First of all, I want to say that I've read the other thread regarding the transition issues, so I realize that a transition is a portion of the video were 2 videos overlay for a certain amount of the time, thus the overall duration get reduced.

I was going to make a photo slideshow made of 248 images, and a music 503 seconds long, and I come across this annoying problem.
So I made some tests.

I set duration for each image of 2 seconds.
So I made a project of 5 images each on of em lasting 2 seconds, the video was 10,000 seconds length, that's because there was still no transition effect.
So I applied a transition effect lasting 0,5 seconds, now the video's length was 8 seconds, so there was a loss of 20% of the total duration.
I made some calcs to determinate how much does a certain 0,5 seconds long transition impact with the duration of the video.

Image's length is always set to 2 seconds and transition its always set to 0,5 seconds

Images Used:5
Video Duration(Without Transition):10 seconds
Video Duration(With Transition):8 seconds
Time loss for each image:0,400 seconds

Images Used:8
Video Duration(Without Transition):16 seconds
Video Duration(With Transition):12,5 seconds
Time loss for each image:0,438 seconds

Images Used:16
Video Duration(Without Transition):32 seconds
Video Duration(With Transition):24,5 seconds
Time loss for each image:0,469 seconds

Images Used:32
Video Duration(Without Transition):64 seconds
Video Duration(With Transition):48,5 seconds
Time loss for each image:0,484 seconds

Conclusion:
Its impossible to determinate the exact length for each image to make a slideshow of 248 photos matching a 503 seconds long video, and there's apparently no feature letting you adjust a slideshow's duration based on the audio's length, that's it, the simplest thing one would image to do with a video editor, and it can't even be done right, and do you even want people to spend money on this product?

Dear user,

Sorry for the delay in reply.

The transition duration is set by double click on it on the storyboard. The time transition takes from each of the images on the sides depend on the transition duration, the image file duration itself and the duration of the second image to which the transition is applied. In other words if the first image duration is 2 seconds, and the second image duration is 5 seconds, transition duration will be 1.99 seconds maximum.

Thus if the image files and transitions duration are the same on the project, you can count the whole video duration.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you.

Kind regards
