After my edits, my project has been left with an excess of blank space at the end which causes the resulting video to run long, with just a blank screen for the last minute or so. In the timeline, this area does not have any video or audio object in it; it is just white space that extends from the end of the video. How can I get rid of it?

Actually, I found an almost imperceptible audio object several lines down that was causing the problem. For those who experience this issue, scroll down and look at every line carefully. Move your cursor to the very end of the extra white space on each one and if some overlooked object is there, it will highlight. Delete it and the excess blank white space will be removed.
