Hello, at first, I want to tell this application is great !

But I have a problem with sound when converting video from MKV format to WMV for somes movies. Everything is fine, video quality, timing, etc. but sounds appear to be corrupted some time, often when sounds get high or when listening bases like an explosion or when a person is crying for example. I can hear "creak" sound like it is broken. (sorry for my english, I do my best ;-) )

Here is the value used for the conversion :

Source :

DTS, Bit rate 128kbps, 6 channels, 48000 Hz

Destination :

WMA Pro (the only one to be used to have more than 2 channels)
Bit rate : Tried 192 and 384 kbps... 192 is worse
6 channels, 48000 Hz

Others movies worked great, DTS Source seems to be the real problem, but I am not sure.

Also, original MKV work great without any sound problem.

Thanks for your help !

I forget to mention that I tested different video player (also the Xbox 360) and that changed nothing. The sound problem remain.

Hello,

We ould like to receive a sample of the input video. That will help us to reproduce the error.
Please upload it to our FTP server. I will send the FTP details to your e-mail.

Best Regards

Sorry for the delay,

It's not an easy task to get a sample from an MKV file of 8gig. I didnt found any utility in all AVS Tools that can handle that (an MKV format editor).

I think it's an easy task for you to found any MKV file with DTS audio, none of them work well after being converted to WMA PRO (whatever the setting you're using).

I think I found a WMA PRO output format that work with DTS input format.

Here is the parameter to be used for the output settings :

WMA PRO 440 kbps, 44 kHz, 5.1 channel 16 bit (CBR)

Also, if you dont want 5.1 but only Stereo for your output file (but why ? :) )

WMA 16 bit Stereo CBR 44100Hz 3420kbps
or if you want : 320kbps, 44 kHz, stereo CBR

First try with 3 minutes conversion and everything's fine with sound now (and with a very good quality)
Will keep you inform after a total conversion.

Another hint about converting MKV HD to WMV HD, set video bit rate to 8000. Output file will be larger, but with less than no quality loss. All other video settings must be same as file input settings.

Yes please. Inform me about the result and about the version of the AVS Video Converter you used.

Hope to hear from you soon.
