Just want to add my name to this wish list. I am a long time subscriber to your programs and have just run across a few HEVC files which I cannot work with. Please consider adding support for this format. Thank you.

Bumping this old thread, because 2 years later we still don't have support for this format...

BUT, situation is quite different from 2014-2015, 4K is almost everywhere now, and new phones, Huawey Mate 9 for example use this format to record in 4k...

I have installed x265vfw codec in my Windows 10 computer in order to use it in AVI files with VirtualDub. I take recordings from my PVR, load them in VirtualDub, cut the advertisements and create an edited "master" of the movie or serial I like. For best quality the "master" is encoded in HEVC with the x265vfw codec and selected FOURCC code HEVC (could also be x265, X265, H265, h265 but HEVC gives best compatibility with other applications). The audio is encoded in Dolby Digital (AC3) using the AC3 ACM codec. To produce a DVD version with best quality I load the "master" in AVS video converter and make an MPEG file. I then extract the video part from the MPEG file (M2V) and the audio part from the "master" (AC3) and multiplex them with IFOEDIT to the final DVD files. This gives the best possible quality for the limited space of a single layer DVD-R disk. AVS video converter can open any video format I like, expect the newer HEVC codec. Is there any plugin or add-on to add HEVC (x265vfw) support? Or should I wait for a newer version of the application? I would also appreciate it if you could add support for SRT subtitles.

Thank you in advance.

Dear user,

Unfortunately for now there are no plug ins for HEVC format support and we cannot tell you when they may be available.

AVS Video Converter can be used to convert video with SRT subtitles, please follow this link to find more details.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you.

Another bump for this. These x265 files appears from many sources and missing support is starting to deteriorate the value of AVS products rapidly.

Could you please comment something else than you cannot tell about the plans? Have you considered this and what is the main argument from your side that it's not supported?

Dear user,

Thank you for your interest in AVS4YOU software.

The development of support for H.265 files have been considered.

We are not sure about the time when it can be available.

Thank you for understanding.

Maybe some plug-in / plugin that loads x265 encoder. I am looking forward to making changes to the program;)
That's why I would like this encoder, because of what I know, thanks to x265 we get good quality and small file size;)

Hi,

It's been sometime now that h265 compatibility has been requested, the only comments say the same thing. Thanks but don't know when. I'm getting the impression that this software development is dying.

Basically is this feature, which is well established now, being added or not?

H.265/HEVC decoding is in alpha testing now and will soon be released, if there is no problem.

I switched to WinX for H.265 support because I couldn't wait for AVS any longer, even though I like AVS for other reasons. I would suggest to the AVS team that if they don't want to lose customers to other competitors, they should try to add support for new formats even before they become popular, because then it's too late.

Dear user,

Thank you for the suggestion.

H.265/HEVC decoding is now available for MP4/M4V, MOV and MKV formats.

To get support of the codec we would ask you to launch the attached utility on your PC. This utility will update AVS software components installed on your PC.

1. Save the attached .exe file on your PC.
2. Close all running AVS applications and launch the utility.
3. Follow the instructions given.
4. When the installation is complete new updated software components will be installed on your computer.

Please let us know about the results.

Best regards.

It is only decoding (as input format) now and too slow, without acceleration, but we will develop and improve it later.
Also in other test version there is already support for the WEBM format with new VP9 codec - for decoding.
