I sent a request to support on the 24th, but haven't got a reply yet. I can't open my wma files. Here is a copy of what I sent to them, but maybe someone here can help me out...I bought a license key and installed it and all is good there. (I will also attach the wma file here too as a zip file...

Dear Support,
I just installed AVS Audio Converter and it won't open .wma files (atleast some of them...I didn't try all the ones that I have, but I tried a few). I will attach one of them. Can you tell me why. It shows up in the list of supported files. It opens all the mp3 files I've tried so far. Those are the only 2 I've tried, but it just won't open the wma files I've tried. When I try to open one it gives the error message "One or more files could not be opened". I really like your products so far, and I intend on downloading more of them in time, but I really want this to work with the wma files I have...
Thanks
Albert

Hi Albert,

We tested your file. Unfortunately, it turned out, that it is copy protected, so we can not open it and convert to any other format.

Best Regards

oh, ok. I didn't know that. Alright, thanks for checking into it. I didn't even know they could be copy protected. I have a lot of files like that that I wanted to turn to mp3's, but I guess I'll have to record them to mp3's instead. That's ok, it'll just take a hundred times as long...lol

Thanks much for your time with this and letting me know what the deal was!

:-)

Can you please tell me the problem with the file I attached? I don't think it is the same copy protection problem, because the Audio Converter doesn't give me any error message -- instead, it looks like it encounters an unhandled exception when I try to open this file (it doesn't give any message, but doesn't add the file to the list, and after it the program stops responding to "Add File" or "Add Folder" buttons).

Thanks!
Ola

Hi Ola,

Please try to rename your file using Roman alphabet or numerals.

If that does not help. please inform us whether the error repeats with other WMA files.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you, renaming the file worked!
Although, I have 3 albums of Russian music that need convertion, and renaming all files will be a nuisance... adding support of file names in other languages would be a better solution. But still, thanks!

All the best,
Ola

Unfortunately, the file is not attached here. We would appreciate if you tried to once again. Please zip it prior to attaching.

Make sure these files are not copy-protected. In case they are not, please attach one of them here for testing (please zip it first).

Thank you in advance

I am experiencing the same with my wma files as the others. I am attaching one of the songs and could you check if it is copyright protected? Thanks in advance.

This file is protected. This can be checked simply by viewing its properties (see screenshot).

I have downloaded the Audio Converter and have converted a lot of my music from itunes to mp3 format. Many files and some whole folders refuse to open when I attempt to 'convert them'. I get an error message stating "One or more files could not be opened". The music it does convert Im satisfied with, however many of the files that won't open are favorites.

Does anyone have any guidance on the cause for the problem and/or a solution??

Many thanks

Please note my comment above. Most likely, these files are copy-protected, therefore cannot be opened in the program.

I downloaded wma files from Bearshare and now want to convert them to mpg using AVS. But each time I try to add a file it gives me a file format error. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.
