Hi Everyone
I keep hearing how DVD/Blue Ray players and DVD/Blue Ray discs are going to become extinct within the next 5-10 years. Now granted, I hear this from the local Apple store, while the local Best Buy says exactly the opposite (that players and discs will continue to exist in physical form, and only the picture quality will evolve.
Well, I'm not sure who's right, but that's not really my question. I'm going by the worst case scenario that the Apple people are correct and from now on, everything will be streaming video. IF that happens, I don't want my fairly large DVD collection to become unwatchable. So, I've begun the process of ripping my DVDs into digital files and found that by using the right ripper program, I can rip the entire DVD (menus and all), and then play the IFO file in order to retain DVD menu functionality. It's acts as if I was still watching the DVD in a DVD player!
So to get to my question: I found a number of streaming media players that claim to be able to play IFO files, and to read/store folders containing all the DVD files so I can recreate the DVD menu functionality that's so important to me. The question is: which streaming media player should I buy? I've read good and bad things about a number of models on the market, and was wondering if anyone here had found a good product worth buying (again, that can play IFOs).
Thanks for the help.
