I have several pictures in my main timeline and I saved my project, then deleted the pictures which were on my desktop. I then later open video editor and noticed that all the pictures where not displaying on the timeline however there "space" was filled, but blank. I then pulled all of the deleted pictures out of my desktops recycling bin and reloaded the video editor with the same result. I also reimported all the image files, but still they are not displaying in the timeline, just blank slots. I'm new a tthis, but it seems like it would be a nightmare for me to delete all the bank slots and to try to match up all the pictures again... is there a way to reassociate the blank slots with what used to be their corresponding image?

Hello,

Please note that project files do not contain the actual video, the only contain the links to the media files you used in your projects. It is strongly recommended not to change the location of the media files used in your project while working on it. If one of the media files was removed, replaced or renamed, you will see the File Not Found notification in the Media Library. when you reopen the project you receive the following message: "Can't find file "File Name" with three options: Ignore, Ignore All and Browse...

If you know where the file is located, press Browse... and find this file on your PC. Before to work with footage we advise you to transfer video from your camera to PC.

Best regards

thank you for your reply and I do understand how i lost the file. My question now is how do i reassociate the file? I have not changed the name and the file is still on my desktop exactly where it was located before i deleted it. Yet the video editor still will not display it on the timeline. You menion press browse... where do i do that and how? I've already RE-imported the file to the multimedia section, but that still has not repopulated it in the timeline. I hope i am wording this properly. I really really dont want to have to reedit the entire video again.

Hello,

Please specify whether there is any error when you open the project. Please send us a screenshot of the Media Library and the Timeline with the added video.

Best regards.

I have seen the same phenomenon when I removed video by taking it off my DVD player. The only way I could restore the project was to open a new project. Then import all the video, etc. into that prohect and finally open the saved project file vep. Trying to first recover the vep and then importing the
video will cause things like titles to be pushed to the end of the time line. If one has the patience, you can singly move these titles to the 'spaces' reserved
in the vep project resulting timeline. I think my first method is much easier and produces the same result.

This also brings up another question. We are being told that videos are not actually imbedded in the time line, but only have links to places where these videos are actually stored. I can buy that. However, I am wondering if those links must be preserved after the 'production' operation to incorporate these
videos during the burn process. Practically, if a DVD drive is not needed to provide source video for the burn, I can re-use it as a burner drive. This saves
me the bother of copying additional videos to the hard drive if I am dealing with multibple video inputs. Can I get an answer on this?

This does not happen!

There are no prompts to redefine the locations of the video after opening the saved project file. As I mentioned in this same string,
opening the saved project first and then importing the videos causes things like titles to be pushed to the end of the timeline. It is
better to import files first and then recover the project.

Hello,

In order to avoid any problem with the project we advise you to transfer all used files onto your PC.

Well, that's one way to fix an issue. Just tell people not to use it. This program should work well by importing files from various sources like DVD players
and cameras. There is no reason to require users to first move the images to the hard drive. I have been using the links to my DVD player to generate
Blu-Ray videos with only small annoying problems. These should be fixed rather than tell people to move everything to your hard drive.
