Hi Jamie,

What format is the original DVD rip? .ISo or VIDEO TS folder?

You should be able to right click on the original dvd rip file & select AVS convert to: & select .AVI.

From there the program will start up & under where it shows your original file scroll down & select output option to suit your needs, I think there is an XBOX setting there!

Hi Grant,

Thanks for that.
The only reason I use DVDRip files as they are better quality (old movies for the kids). Tried it last night converting to avi and still didnt work - driving me mad. I am not sure what format they are in, but they do say.avi. How do you check the format of the original DVDrip?

Could I rip the file to dvd, them convert it back - just thinking of a way around it.

When you use camcorder recordings of films they work fine!!!!

cheers

Jamie,

Actually dvdrip files are already in avi. The issue is iin codec I suppose. You may try converting to AVI in AVS Video Converter selecting the profile Video:MPEG-4 (Divx.xviD),1500 kbp; Audio: MP2, 192 kbps. After you selected the profile open Advanced setting>Conversion Options tab>Output File>Video Codec>Advanced and change profile level to Advanced Level 0 or selecting just one of Simple profiles. But it is quite complicated, so I would recommmend you to select conversion to MP4 format and select special profile Microsoft XboX 360 in the profile, it must definitely work.

I hope it helps.

Best regards.

Hi Vlad,

Thanks once again.

I willl defo try that option. When you say MP4 format is that MPEG-4 (Divx.xvid) as below or is there a specific one in the range.

Sorry for all the question, I am new to this and not every technical.

Cheers

MP4 is MPEG-4 video format, it is wider term. MPEG-4 (Divx, xviD) is just a video codec used in MP4 and some other formats.

I don't understand, where are you reading what the codec is? You can right click on it & select media info & take a screen shot of that with what it orignally was & what it is converted to!

If it's been converted in AVS using the above method it should be a Mpeg or H264 codec I think?

so if you keep it simple & just select output to xbox under the avi settings & leave it all default it still doesn't play on the xbox?

Hi grant,
I downloaded a programme to show what the codec were.

Not having much joy with this mate!!!!

I have followed all the instructions but still will not n xbox. Where do you go in to see the mediaails - on the file itself - right click and do it that way.

I am sorry for all the hassle over this, i thought it would be really straight forward and its annoying me now.

Thanks again

Dear Jamie,

You should just select conversion to MP4, select the profile for Xbox 360 in the Profile list. No manipulation with codec, file type, etc. Does it work?

If not which error do you get? How do you use media converter, which you mentioned, with XboX?

Best regards.
