I downloaded a very old movie in AVI format that has audio only on the left channel. The right channel is silent. I suspect the movie was made in MONO to begin with. I tried to fix it by using AVS Video Converter and going into the ADVANCED tab and selecting MONO instead of STEREO. I then converted the file back into an AVI file. The resulting file had audio on both channels, but for some reason there was no video. The file was smaller too.

What did I do wrong? How can I get the audio to be on both the right and left channels and keep the video too? Please HELP!

Hello,

Where do you play resulted avi file? Seems that your media player just do not have neccessary codecs to play video in resulted avi file. Please install codec pack on your computer, for example k-lite.

Best regards.

Okay, I installed the codec pack you suggested and restarted my computer. I then tried to convert the file again with AVS Video Converter and got the same result. The audio was fine on both channels----but there was no video.

I use the latest version of VLC Media Player to play the file. I tried to play the file with other players and got the same result.

I notice that the converted AVI file is only 683 MB, while the original AVI file was 1.023 GB

All I want to do is to have MONO audio on both RIGHT and LEFT channels. It is only on the LEFT channel in the original file. The RIGHT channel is silent. Please help.

In this case I would better recommend you to use AVS Audio Editor. You should load your video file into it and then re-save it using Save As option, but selecting stereo channels for output (only thus audio will play in both channels). See the details how to open video file in AVS Audio Editor here.

I hope it helps.

Best regards.
