If you import files to the current project folder in media library, video files will not be saved in the library after closing the project. If you create certain folder in media library and then import files into it, they will be saved in this folder.

I hope it helps.

Regards.

But then again, I have seen so many times, that reopening the project, will see the imported library files re-appearing in the media pane.

I can also confirm now, the follow steps losses the materials

1) New project
2) import media material
3) move the materials into the timeline
4) switch to video effect pane
5) Save Project - but not closing it
6) switching back to media pane - now Empty.

But this does not always happen!

If you import video not to specific folder, video will be saved to current project. It means that imported files will dissappear after closing the project and appear again after re-opening it.

Sorry, but we cannot reproduce the problem following your steps. How many files do you usually import for a project?

Dear all
I'm busy with a older project but unfortunately the locations of the files are changed. It look likes it is necessary to assign each file (one by one) again to the new location. That's a lot work.
Than I choose another option. I cut all the files and put them back in the old location but the system doesn't recognize the files even if they are placed back in there old position.
Please help me out.

Hello,

Please note that project files do not contain the actual video, the only contain the links to the media files you used in your projects. It is strongly recommended not to change the location of the media files used in your project while working on it. If one of the media files was removed, replaced or renamed, you will see the File Not Found notification in the Media Library. when you reopen the project you receive the following message: "Can't find file "File Name" with three options: Ignore, Ignore All and Browse...

The only way to restore file is to specify the new locations, press Browse... and find this file on your PC.

Best regards.
