I have some AVI movie files I made with Video Converter. When I first select them or rollover them with cursor, I get and error box pop up that says "Error - Context Alloc". After I click the OK button it goes away and then I can open it, etc.

But is there something that I can do about this. Is there a problem with something I am doing or the way the file may behave?

Many thanks!

Hi Stephen,

We will be glad to receive a sample of the video you want to cut some fragments, to reproduce the issue. Please, try to attach a sample of the video. If you fail, please let us know and we will send you our FTP information.

Please also specify whether the problem described in your second topic appears with the same file or not.

re: CONTEXT ALLOC

I am getting the same error message box.

It pops up quite often whether I'm in an AVS4YOU app or not.

Doesn't crash the system, just irritating.

What additional info can I send?

thanks,

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Please inform us what codec packs you have installed on your PC?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Same problem with "context alloc" error frequently popping up while just looking in the folder that contains recently converted files. Odd.

My codec install files? Ensharpen, Klcodec380b, tscc
(not sure where to look for codec specifics, however)

To All.

Please check for file called ImApp.exe via Task Manager. If tou have it, it is Mass Mail procees that steals the video buffer. I have it and it is a process belonging to Incredimail mail agent. It is possible that some other process does the same

In fact that error has nothing to do with AVS software.

To avoid it, I'd recommend you to check whether your computer has been infected by viruses. This error may be caused by virus.

I may have a virus who knows? How can I locate and stop pop up message?

Yes, we suppose, that the error is provoked by a virus...So, please launch your anti-virus program, and after the virus is found and eliminated, repeat the conversion and inform us about the result.

I am getting the same error message box "context alloc" using Pinnacle Studio 9. It's started happening all of a sudden and locks the programme up. I've scanned with Norton Antivirus and AVGfree and nothing's showing up.

Has anyone found a solution?

Later...
I sussed out that the problem was something to do with divx and xvid files and so I deleted progs that instal codex for these. The problem seems to have cleared. I was able to restore the Xvid codex without recurrence of the error message (context alloc) so that isolated the problem to a DivXBundle that I had downloaded and installed. Presumably it was conflicting with Pinnacle Studio 9+. In my case it was nothing to do with AVS4YOU, as previously stated in this topic.

So, if you're having a similar problem you might want to try uninstalling the Divxbundle if you have it on your computer.

I'd be interested in whether this works for others - as it's early days yet for this solution!

Thanks

Graham

Hello Graham,

Thank you for the information.
We reproduced the situation. You are right. The error is provoked by the conflict with the Pinnacle Studio's codecs.

I have the same problem. I don't associate it with AVS, but I do have AVS. AFter googling for days, it led me here.
I do have IM, but it isn't running. I don't have DIVX or Pinnacle. I have XP codecs, and Essentials Codecs, but the problem started well after installing these. It first showed up when using Picasa 3, but has shown up several times without any programs being open.
I have run spyware and malware, no problems.

This context alloc error showed up again tonight while trying to stream Coast to Coast. I had to close it, and reopen, and no problem.

I don't know what is causing this, but it is irritating. I'm also watching for responses on a Google group, but no answers there either.

Anyone have ideas other than those here so far ?

I started getting the context alloc error after installing the Google Desktop. I turned off the desktop and the error stopped. I have reconfigured the Google Desktop options to exclude the media files and the error seems to have stopped popping up.

I hope that this helps...

I do not have Pinnacle Studio and I have the context alloc window popping up when my computer is idle for a few moments. I think the first time I saw this was when I was using my FLIP video program. Based on other forum dialog, it must have something to do with video programs. It hasn't caused any problems that I am aware of, only irritating.

I just got the error that you are talking about "context alloc". I got it when I downloaded google desktop. I also have avs. I was wondering if any of you other people that have this error have google desktop. I know that it indexes the files. maybe it has a problem with avs file types

No, it is not. This is the error which pops up in Windows Explorer. If you just open Windows Explorer it will pop up. As our software opens it when you browse for the files, the error occurs that moment, but it is in no way connected with AVS files. Try uninstalling Google Desktop or search the Internet for possible solutions to this problem.
