Hello,

first of all i have tried getting help direct from the support team, but i don't seem to be getting anywhere with it i'm affraid...

The dvd i produced has great quality video clips but there are a few photos i have used and the quality in them is terrible (i have used bmp files and the quality is perfect when project is produced used avi format) Also the font that i added in the text line comes up as really bad quality (jagged curves) whereas in the avi format it is perfect quality with smooth curves. Video properties are 1280 x 720 and 29.97 fps. Aspect ratio for project is 16x9, and produce dvd using ntsi best quality. (I'm in england - should i use PAL instead? just video is fine, but not the photos so don't know if this would be cause).

Could the photo files be too big? Some photos are 28.55Mb with image size of 2736 x 3648 pix. I have only used the text on the photo parts of the project, so don't know if the text would also be poor if it were to appear over the video parts.. i have been producing project onto dvd-r disks and now only have one left so don't want to experiment and waste last disc! i will be getting more though...

I know very little about computers and these sort of things so excuse me if i am giving useless information or making stupid guesses!

thanks for anyones help or advise - and sorry for seeking help on forums after asking support team help! am desperate for any advise now!

Hello Bryony,

Please accept our apologies for the late response.

I will try to give you some tips to avoid the problem. The reason of quality degrade is that your images have high resolution, such as 2736 x 3648, and you save it to DVD which is only 720x480. When you save to HD 1280x720 avi is much better. Aspect ratio choosed for the project is also important. You will get best results if you select 4:3 aspect ratio for your project. You should also save to DVD Pal profiles, not DVD NTSC.

Not sure what can cause the problem with text... But, I would recommend you to try the latest version AVS Video Editor 6.0 which we have just released.

I hope it helps.

Best regards.

Hello -

New user to AVS Video Editor 6.0.3.184 here. I've made several projects so far and like the program. I'm making projects that contain videos, photographs, and music. While working in the project and even after saving it, burning it to DVD, and playing back on TV I'm impressed w/ the video quality. My problem is my .JPG images I've imported into the program. It seems most of my images (not all of them) are very poor quality ONLY when working with them inside of AVS Video Editor and of course when playing back on DVD. When I view the same images with any other windows based application, the .jpg images are sharp, crisp, perfect.

Looking for some help on what the issue may be.

The attachment below will show 2 screenshots of photos inside AVS Video Editor as well as the properties of the image showing file size and pixel data. I've also included screenshots of the same 2 images when viewing them in MS photo viewer.

Please let me know your thoughts as I'd like to get some of my pending projects fixed and wrapped up.
Thanks,
Jason

Hello,

Actually, DVD has just standard resolution 720x480 and when you save pictures with high resoultion (3648x2736) to DVD format you loose the quality.

Best regards.

You mentioned that to the other person, but you failed to suggest the recommended or maximum image dimensions to use for making a video from a bunch of still photos. This is what we all want to know.

I am doing my DVD's in 16:9 format high res.

Thanks
Allan

Hello Allan,

Please note, there is no limitation for input file's resolution. But the resolution of the output file depends on the video format and preset you select.

Best regards.
