Hey I used the Video Editor trial and it worked really well so I wanted to buy it as I really like the software. Unfortunately it keeps causing my computer to crash sometimes when I use it. It wouldn't bother me if it didn't work at all, it's just it "sometimes" works which is frustrating in it's self.

I'm using Video Editor 5.2 and it works when run in safe mode and when run in compatibility with Windows XP (Service Pack 2). I've also tried disabling visual themes, desktop compisition and scaling on high DPI settings, which extended the amount of times the program ran. I've even tried cleaning the registry, turning off foreign Codecs which we're recommended for earlier versions and re-installing the entire program again and again. Unfortunately these did work at first but wasn't a permanent solution and as I said its the fact it sometimes works that is bothering me.

The biggest problem is that:

A. I've paid for this so I am doing all in my power to get it to work.
B. I actually really like the software so I don't want to have to try and find other software as this is the best I have used so far.

Any help would really be apprieciated as I want to use this software full time.

Hello Damian,

We will be glad to help.

When exactly does the computer crash? Adter which action, which process in AVS Video Editor?
Could you please specify the format of the files you work with and their origin?

Also, please attach a screenshot of your PC configuration (right click on My Computer>Properties>General).

Best regards.

Hello Vlad,

Well my computer crashes shortly after or as soon as I run Video Editor, so you can see the AVS4you little window as its about to open then the whole computer freezes. Any sound that is coming from the speakers stops and the mouse and keyboard don't respond.

As I said sometimes it will load, but its a pain when it just stops my computer all together, what did you mean by the format of files I work with? Did you mean the files I used when working with Video Editor? I used AVI's originated from recording my screen with Fraps. Either way it crashes before I even have chance to work with any files.

I've attached my computed spec screenshot for you.

Thank You

Thank you for the details.

Please reinstall all AVS programs using the instructions here. Then install the latest just released version AVS Video Editor 6.0.

If it does not help, please repair AVS files:

1. Close all AVS programs and other running applications.

2. Follow Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Repair.

If some of the .dlls are not registered, please make a screenshot of the Repair window showing those files and send it to us.

By the way, do you have other AVS programs installed on your computer, for example AVS Video Converter? Do they work properly?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello

Unfortunately no luck i'm afraid. I did everything you recommended such as; unistalling all AVS programs, deleting all remaining folders, deleting all files from the registry then finally installing the new AVS Video Editor 6.0. It crashed the 1st time I ran it, same way it always crashes.

I've ran a AVS Repair to which I found one DLL file it could not load.

I've attached a screen for you containing the dll file it could not load. All other dll files resulted in success.

Hope to hear from you.

The program chrashes at the start... And you are working with avi files from fraps... Are they HD videos? How many files do you have in media library? If many, try cleaning the following directory - C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\AVS4YOU\AVSVideoEditor\Data and move MediaLibrary.vec to some backup folder, so that the folder Data will be empty.

If it does not help, try also updating drivers for your video card.

I hope it helps.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards.
