Hello there
When I add a MKV file and load up the subtitles ( subtitles are in MKV file ) and then change the font or color for the subtitles, it dosnt work! The subtitle works, but I can't change how it looks.
I previously did had the AVS video converter, and changing the subtitles work, but I had to format my system and when I got the video converter again, and tried to change the font it will not work, please tell me what's the problem and how to fix the issue.

Hello,

Sorry for the late response.

Do you have external (separate subtitle file) or internal (built-in) subtitles for mkv file?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards.

I'm having the same problem as SonBui, I cannot change the font or colour of my subtitles when I try to convert mkv to avi. The subtitles work but the font, colour or size of them do not change. The subtitles are built-in & I've got version 6.4 of AVS Video Converter. Little help?

Hello,

Unfortunately, internal subtitles (built-in) cannot be edited with our software. Editing options can be applied only for subtitles in separate file (.srt or .ssa). We are sorry if it may be of any inconvenience.

Regards.

P.S. Please note that we have recentely released new version AVS Video Converter 7.1.

I'm having this problem too. I'm using Video Converter 8 and I'd like to change the font used for a subtitle track in an MKV file. I DO NOT want to EDIT the subtitle stream. All I want to do is change the font. Video Converter 8 has an option to change the font for subtitles in the Settings dialog, under the Subtitles option. It even has a nice pre-viewer that uses sample subtitle text that says "Your subtitles will look like this". However, no matter what font I choose (I'm careful to pick only True Type fonts) and although my choice does show up in the subtitle preview dialog, the converted video always uses what appears to be the default font and style (that is: Arial with contour). I've confirmed that no matter what the origin file type or the destiniation file type, Converter 8 seems to completely ignore the font and style selection. Have I run into a bug here or am I doing something wrong?

Please note my post above. Do you have internal (built-in) substitles in mkv file or they are in separate file, such as ssa, sub, etc?

Yes, I've read the previous posts very carefully. I am working with an MKV file with two subtitle streams: an ssa stream and a subt stream. These streams are NOT part of the video stream, they are separate streams WITHIN the MKV file, they are not separate files either. Please let me repeat: I do not want to EDIT the subtitle track, I only want to change the FONT that Video converter uses to display the subtitles. I am using Video Converter 8.0.3.494. Under the "Settings" button (looks like a gear), there is a setting labled "Subtitles". If I choose that option, Video Converter brings up a very nice dialog where the user is given the impression that the font used for the sub-titles may be changed. The user is also given the option to change the location where the subtitles may be displayed (ie: Top/Bottom). None, I repeat, none, of these options seem to be working.

they are not separate files either.

Sorry, but if subtitles are not in separate files, they cannot be formatted in AVS Video Converter.

I am trying to add a subtitle file that came in an AVI torrent movie. The subtitle file extension is .SUB and I understand here that the extension has to be .SRT or .SSA. What must I do to convert the .SUB to .SRT so that my converter will accept it?

Having the same problem with V 7 and 8. Matybe it is a Win 7 issue. The older versions were OK they retained the adjutement one made. I made a half a dozen coasters because titles were too big. I always use srt or sub independent subtitles and have the experience to deal with it. I just wrote a note to support about it.
I ended up using another program to finish the job.

Dear Laszlo,

Please specify to what file format you save the video file with a changed font. Specify if the changes remain if you save the file to some other format.

Try to describe your actions step by step while creating the file.

Thank you for the information.

Kind regards

I fully understand your issue Laszlo, I have the same issue. I dont think Vlad understands properly. THE FONT SIZE DOES NOT SAVE WHEN CHANGED FROM DEFAULT IN FINAL ENCODED MOVIE . My issue is i want to keep mp4 format, just add subtitles. However the font always stays at the default font size , which is 27. I have used other products and the default size is 24 I cant fathom why AVS would have such a high default size in the first place. SO AGAIN THE QUESTION THAT IS ASKED IS; IS THIS A BUG IN THE PROGRAM SOFTWARE and if so can AVS reply with some sort of fix or patch if necessary . Many thanks. Yes i have added a seperate srt. file named the same as the movie file etc. please respond i am stumped and cant seem to work this out . Thanks again

Dear Adam,

Do you have any problems with any other .srt files?

If you convert your file to some other format, does the problem remain?

After you change the substitles settings, are they changed on the preview window of AVS Video Converter by clicking on the Edit button?

Does the problem remain if you convert some other MP4 or other format file?

Thank you for cooperation.

Kind regards
