I am using Audio Editor on my mpg-movies solely to amplify the volume. When I save the file, it takes a really long time: a cpu-hog program in this case, not IO –based (the latest was expected!). And after the comparison of the source and the new file, it seems that the bitrate of the video is also changed:

Size changed from 1104 MBytes to 617 MBytes ,
the video bitrate from 5995 Kbps to 3272 Kbps
and it took 35 minutes on a Q9550.

What is happening, definitely no reconversion should take place of the video?

By the way, batch is perfect for multiple files, but “save all” is bad: for every file there is a screen popping up for the settings, not at the beginning for all files but when the saving is ready each file, which can take a while, based on the first paragraph in this note.

Sorry, but we cannot not reproduce the problem in AVS Audio Editor. Could you please specify to which audio format you save audio tracks and what exact output settings you select? It will allow us to look further into the issue.

Today I have done a lot of testing. I have found that the output-files are all corrupted after a while: in the earlier used file after 10 min (real video time)and another file after 5 minutes (all with the same video bitrate of 6000 kbps). I have checked the output files with the tool GSpot v2.70a in the VGS-mode: I saw that after the mentioned times suddenly all frames have "discontinuities" as they call it. The source-files are fine. In AVS Audio Editor no effect is used on the source-files, just use "save as" and take whatever setting you like for audio output. I used the default 112K/44100HZ/16-bit and 192K/48000HZ/16-bit, no impact on the problem.

It looks like it is depending of the size of the mpeg2-file or problems with the decoder? I have no idea which encoder is used or how to influence this: a built-in version or an external one?

As background: my system is running Vista Home Premium / SP2 + Quad Core Q9550 2.83 GHz + 4 GByte Ram. This means my system is running 64-bit.

Has anyone ideas?

It is not possible to use AVS Audio Editor to reconvert video files.
You can use AVS Audio Editor to extract audio from a video file and save it as an audio file, (please find the instructions following this link), but not reconvert video file.

Please try to provide some additional information so we could assist you: specify the program you use and its version (make the screenshot of the program window, if possible); describe your actions step by step, specify the format and origin of the file you use; specify to what format you save the video to and what settings you select.

We greatly appreciate your help.

Regards

AVS Audio Editor does not support reconverting video files, I agree, but it supports .mp2 as input AND as output: so you should have the option to change just audio characteristics of a video file: see the attached picture. It's even the default.

Depending on the source, sooner or later the video stream starts to be corrupted independent of the output settings.

Using the same source for example in AVS Video Editor and AVS Video Converter, there is no error.

Hello,

Unfortunately, we cannot repeat the problem in AVS Audio Editor.

Could you please specify the format and origin of your test video files that become corrupted after you edited our? I suppose it is mpg (mpeg 2), is it so? Do you have the same problem with the files of other formats? Please provide this information as it will allow us to assist you further.

Best regards.

If you can send me a place where to put a 600 MB file, you can investigate the problem directly. You have my email address @support.

Attached are the parameters of the input file.

regards, Hans
