Does anyone know of a video capture CARD that has a hi-def HDMi input? I want to record media that comes in on an HDMI wire in hi-def, 1080p I've seen cards that accept RCA wires or RF cables, but the best that they can record is a grainy 1080i signal. That is not acceptable in this age of hi-def!

Hi.

Yes, there is such a card with an HDMI-in - it is called Intensity Pro and is produced by Blackmagic Design company.
If you are interested to learn more about the card and other products you can easily find their site using Google :-)

Is it possible to use the HDMI port on my laptop as a capture device, or is it output only. I know that HDMI can swing both ways - just didn't know about using it as a capture port.

Hi,
Most probably HDMI port on your laptop cannot be used for capturing, only for connecting second or LCD panel.
Some capture cards do have HDMI ports, but I do not know if there are any for laptops available.
