That is not clear what you want to do, to merge or to trim videos. So, please precise your aim.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I'm having trouble merging scenes using the multi trim option. I'm simply trying to cut out the middle of my video and merge the remaining 2 scenes. When I highlight the 2 scenes and click merge it merges the middle part (which I dont need) back with the whole video.

Can someone please help?

After you use Mark Start and Mark End buttons to highlight the scene you would like to cut out, just click on OK. As a result, the scene highlighted will be deleted. Here is the detailed information about using trim and multi trim options.

I believe its the highlighted section that gets saved. I just want to merge the scenes I highlighted. If I end up with 3 scenes and just click "OK" I end up with 3 separate movies. I'm not sure how much clearer I can make my problem.

You are right. Sorry, my misprint. Now I do understand the problem. As a result, you get some scenes on the timeline and they cannot be merged after using multi trim options. This is a drawback and we will correct it in future, however, note that this is only the way your videos are organized on the timeline during editing. After you save the movie, you will get one video, not separate ones.

I am trying to trim out some of the scenes I have in my home movie and rename them, AVS editor doesn't seem to have this feature. How do I do this?

When you trim videos in AVS Video Editor and get multiple scenes, they cannot be saved as separate files. The scenes you see on the timeline are parts of one video, so if you save the movie, you get one output file. If you would like to split a movie into two or more files, you need to leave the first clip on the timeline by cutting off the unwanted part and save it, then do the same for the second clip etc.

I have been making successful movies for years with AVS Video Editor. Suddenly multi trim doesn't work. A black screen appears. When play is pushed, nothing happens. The files are not corrupted, as I can see them play in the media window. I have uninstalled all the programs in AVS, cleaned the registry and reinstalled the latest software. Still the same problem. About the only thing I think might be an issue, is after uninstalling, I couldn't follow the link to remove all remaining components left on the computer....the link said "Server is busy. Try later".

Dear user,
To avoid the problem please try to do the following press the Edit tab on the top toolbar of AVS Video Editor - choose Settings - go to Preview section - in Video Rendering check the option Use video buffer. Then restart AVS Video Editor and inform about the result.
Thank you for cooperation.
Kind regards
