AVS Audio Editor version 4.2
Platform Vista. Recording config (testing device is OK): sample rate 44100, size 16 bit.
After recording 15 mins audio (radio, line-in) and trying to save it as Mp3 I get this error: "Access violation at address 06909c00 in module 'AVSAudioCompress3.dll'. Write of address 06909c00."
I checked the presence of the DLL.
Saving it as Wma works fine.
Any suggestions? Tnx in advance.

Try downloading and installing the program once again. Here is the link to download the latest version.

Also run the Repair utility afterwards to make sure all the .dlls are installed properly on your PC:
1. Close AVS Audio Editor and all other running programs and applications.
2. Next follow Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Repair

Have done that, but still the same error appears.
I uninstalled properly and removed the remaining AVS4YOU traces from the HD, from the registry and now also uninstalled the software navigator.
The program has worked in the past.
I noticed in other forum subjects the same kind of problem (usually video), so I'm prepared not to be able to use AVS for some time. Happy? Not really... )-:

Changing the Data Execution Prevention settings prevented saving an Mp3 in the AVS Editor (!)

"Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that helps prevent damage from viruses and other security threats by monitoring your programs to make sure they use system memory safely. If you choose to protect all programs, you can still turn off DEP for individual programs. If you suspect that a program does not run correctly when DEP is turned on, check for a DEP-compatible version of the program or an update from the software publisher before you change any DEP setting", Vista says.

Because a Norton Utilities program didn't work properly, I changed the settings a couple of weeks ago. For no particular reason I checked them last night.
1. In the config utility open System, 2. Advanced System Settings (administrator password or confirmation), 3. Under Performance: Settings, 4. Data Execution Prevention tab.

It appears that "Turning on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" back again solved my problem with AVS (and restored the unsignificant Norton bug).

audio editor 6.1 (downloaded and installed this morning) will not load any files into bin. 1st window says unknown error. 2nd window say Access violation at address 0804A753 in module AVSAudioEditor5.dll. read of address 00000010. program locks up then. have used repair tool and all succeeded. win 7 intel i7cpu 920@2.79ghz 4mb ram 32bit os. all video/audio drivers up to date.files unprotected.

Please repeat the error and send us log files. For it please download the attached .exe file and run it, upon its installation some AVS software components will be updated. Then run Repair. After that, download attached zip archive and unpack it to the directory C:\Program Files\AVS4YOU\AVSAudioEditor (rename old AVSAudioEditor.exe to AVSAudioEditor_old.exe at first). Then launch bat file and try opening audio file in the program. After error repeats, find log files in the directory C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\AVS4YOU\AVSAudioEditor and attach to your message (log files will be with .log extension). Please note that the folder AppData is hidden, so you should check "Show Hidden Files and Folders" in My Computer>Organize>Search and Folder Options>View.

However, could you please make one more test? Please download and install the attached patch. Then launch AVS Audio Editor and try opening audio file once again. After error repeats, close the program and attach AEComponent.log.

I had an evaluation copy of Editor loaded and then purchased an Unlimited LicenseI then activated my license according to your instructions. I then began some projects. Things were going fine until I tried to close the program. It would not close and I kept getting this message:
Access violation at address 00468F55 in module AVSAUDIOEDITOR.exe read of address 78645427
I had to log off and try again and the same thing happened. I find myself having to use Task Manager to "end task" in order to close the program.

Can you help?

Please make sure you have the latest version AVS Audio Editor 8.0. which can be downloaded from this link.

Also please repair AVS files:

1. Close all AVS programs and other running applications.

2. Follow Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Repair.

If some of the .dlls are not registered, please make a screenshot of the Repair window showing those files and send it to us.

If it does not solve the issue, please provide some additional information about the problem:

- are all audio files loaded off the program when you are trying to close it?
- please attach a screenshot of the error;
- specify your PC configuration - opearting system, cpu, ram, model of sound card.

I did all that you suggested as far as downloading Editor 8.0 and running repair. All seemed to go well but the problem persists.
I remove all audio files from the program before trying to close.
I am running a Dell Studio One 19, Pentium R dual Core 2.6 Ghz; 3 GB Ram; 64 bit; Realtek High def audio.

Could you please describe yoru actions working with AVS Audio Editor step by step? Have you applied any effects, used some functions? Please give the detials. Also, would be great if you attach a screenshot of the error.

The only functions I've used were to open a song on the main page and then go to the mix page, add the song and repeat with another. I then delete any dead air in the first song and mix them adjacently. When completed, I export the mix close each song and attempt to close the program; it will hang on the main page and not close until I go to Task Mgr. and "end task". Couldn't get a screen shot but the message is always the same:
