Since this issue has been festering since last May, I do not have any hopes for a quick resolution.

Can you supply me with links to an earlier version of the Video Editor that is working properly?

Dear Sherwin,

There is such a problem now in AVS Video Editor, but our developers are working on it now.

To avoid the problem please use the backspace or delete buttons to delete the word "text" and then close the Edit Text window.
When you reopen the editing text window, the word "text" will not be there.

Our developers are working on this issue now and I will let you know as soon as it is resolved.

Thank you for understanding and cooperation.

Kind regards

OK, I can use your workaround for the time being. Whenever you come out with a corrected version, can I somehow transfer my existing projects to it?
To install a new version, I would have to clean out the old version. Would that erase all my projects, and if so, should I save any projects somewhere to preserve them, or is that not necessary?

Dear user,

To use the old projects in the new version of AVS Video Editor you need to save the project .vep files and then export media library to be able to import it to the new version of the program later - see the screenshot attached.

Thank you for cooperation.

Kind regards
