Hello,

I put together a simple video in the Video Editor. It was made of files that met the specs of a 1080p screen (1920x1080 pixels). When I try to burn it to a DVD, whether on the Video Editor or Video Converter files, both only have 720x480 which is less than half the size of a regular flat screen TV! All of the videos that I have burned have been terrible looking. I tried to do custom files, but then it would only save as an AVI file, instead of the video_ts or audio_ts I need.

How can I burn a DVD to a high enough quality so it is not terrible looking on a 1080p screen?

I have AVS Video Converter 9.3 and AVS Video Editor 7.0. I also tried the AVS Disc Creator 6.0, but of course I don't have the right files to be able to do that.

Dear user,

Please try to do the following:
1. press the Edit tab on the top toolbar - choose Settings -> Processing -> Resize: Type = Super,

2. please use "DVD NTSC 720x480 - High Quality" profile for the output,

3. after selecting the profile, please make sure you set the correct aspect ratio: press the Advanced button (for Profile) and set "Original" in Input Video Aspect Correction and "16:9 (Wide Screen)" in Output Video Aspect (in AVS Video Converter).

However, please note, that DVD format is lower in frame size than your original file and if your DVD player supports other file formats (e.g. MP4, AVI, etc), we recommend you to convert your video to those formats and select 1080p video files.

Thank you Nat. Unfortunately, I cannot press the Advanced button when selecting a profile for the DVD.

I guess I don't understand how a DVD format can be so low where the image looks poor on a regular 30" screen. Am I missing something? I have plenty of DVDs that show perfectly fine, but the ones burned with AVS compress so that the text looks very pixelated and unprofessional.

I do think that the "Super" setting for processing did help a small amount - thank you for that!!

I went back and looked at some other DVDs I have made. And it does seem that still text specifically seems to be the problem. Maybe the problem is the file I am using for those title cards. Any recommendations on that?

When clicking on the Advanced button, please choose Aspect Correction tab and choose 16:9 aspect for the output.

The Advanced button is not enabled after I select the DVD Profile.
Where do I enable the Advanced button?

DVD prifiles in AVSVideoConverter/AVSVideoEditor are specifically determinated. "Advanced" button for DVD and MPEG (MPEG-1, MPEG-2) profiles is specially disabled.
