I am trying to create an Audio Book, which records my reading a real book (for my grandchildren). The book I am reading is already divided into chapters, which vary somewhat in length, and I would like to preserve the chapter divisions (presumably converting them into tracks in the MP3. I can't see how to do this - I appear to have the choice of having a fixed number of (equal length) chapters or a fixed (for the whole book) chapter length, neither of which is what I want. What am I missing?

The files are MP3 files, currently being recorded (in pieces) by means of AVS Audio Editor and then put together into MP3 Chapter files, using AVS Audio Editor's Mixing facilities. I will shortly be changing over to using a newly purchased solid state hardware recording device, recording on to an SD Card, but the Chapter assembly will be done the same way.

MP3 audiobook is a set of MP3 files (.mp3) and playlist file (.m3u). You already have a set of ready MP3 files, where each file is a separate chapter. You don't need an additional splitting. So you can simply create a playlist manually.

Suppose, your book is called "Title" and MP3 files are Title01.mp3, Title02.mp3, Title03.mp3. Create new folder with name "Title" and move your MP3 files there. Then run Notepad and in new TXT file write the names of your MP3 files:
Title01.mp3
Title02.mp3
Title03.mp3
Save this TXT file, rename it to Title.m3u and move it into the "Title" folder with MP3 files.
Your MP3 audiobook is ready!

In the future we will try to add one more mode of creating MP3 audiobooks — for your case.

That is simple enough that you don't really need to automate it, but it would be extremely helpful if you explained/documented it in the program documentation. This would need very little more text than the contents of your last message.
