I have installed the trial version of AVS VC v8.5.1.551 to test it with the view to buying a copy, however, it fails with:

Access violation at address: 00517A9E in module: 'AVSVIDEOCONVERTER.EXE' Read Address: 00000028

on *every* MPG file that's longer than about 35 mins ... I've tried a few. AVS VC works OK on short MPG videos.

I'm trying to convert DVD episode rips in the MPG (VOB) format to H264 video & MP3 sound inside a MKV container. Intel QuickSync should be in use.

Operating System is: Windows 8.1 Update 1 PRO 64bit.

The "wer" file is additional trace data for the abend, *not* a video file or format. I'm not asking for an enhancement to AVS VC, I'm asking for the problem to be fixed.

AVS VC always abends so long as I try to convert a video file longer than around 30 mins to either a MKV or MP4 container using the H-264/AVC codec. I've tried various options but no matter what I try AVC VC abends with:
