I recently purchased a new wireless router that can act as a DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) server. My Sony Blu-Ray player can play videos from my new DLNA server except they have to be in a MP4 format. I found it strange, because if you hook an external hard drive to the Sony, It will play both MP4 and MPEG files. But if you try and play the same MPEG file over the DLNA server, it says that the file is corrupt or not supported.

My questions are this...Is there going to be a video converter that would format a file to play on a DLNA server? In the mean time, how do I convert an MPEG file to a MP4? I tried converting one, but it won't play over DLNA. How can I look at the MP4 files that works so that I can setup the MPEG to MP4 to have the same type of configuration?

Dear user,

You need to check the specifications of the files that are supported on DLNA server: audio and video codecs that are supported.
Then convert video to the necessary codecs in AVS Video Converter, you can change the output file settings by clicking on the Advanced button:

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you.

Kind regards
