I was playing around with the AVS Video Editor to see what can and can't be done and one thing I noticed seems like it really should be implemented. Which is of course a 4-point (or more) transform tool for video overlays, hence the title.
It'd basically be doing stuff like this (where the flower is a video overlay)
A good use for it would be for example superimposing a video, or image, onto a surface in the main clip.
For example, the same flower as before onto a computer screen.
Combined with the pre-existing chroma-key the possibilities would be very great indeed.

The film uses tracking to keep the overlay on the wall, but in a still scene the same thing can be recreated easily - with a 4-point transform - or in a moving scene using multiple splits and adjusts.
Currently the only way to replicate something similar is to import the overlay as the main video, apply some of the transformation effects, render it and then chroma key it out. This is troublesome and in many cases reduces quality due to re-encoding, also if there's black in the scene you're using as an overlay you'll run into issues with the chroma keying - so it'd only work for bright scenes.
Personally, if this were implemented, I think it'd belong in the actual 'edit overlay' dialogue. Although, if two of the other suggestions are implemented which should have higher implementation priority than this, this wouldn't be needed.

The former link would require a new effect to allow more freedom and precision than the current skew, rotate and perspective effects.
For the latter link a transparent colour would be necessary to achieve the same effect.
