I was always able to convert video dvd to mp4 by using video conversion with video_ta.ifo as the input file.

But suddenly when i run the program, it says video completed after only 5 seconds and no completion file exists

Please try to provide some additional information about the issue:
- specify the exact version of AVS Video Converter you use: press teh About button on the top toolbar,
- specify if the DVD video can be played on your PC players without any problems,
- specify if the video file can be played on the preview window of AVS Video Converter by clicking on the Edut button,
- do you get any problems with conversion of any other files?
