does it make any difference if i use video editor or video converter to convert a video for one format to another?
Original file was generated on a mac it has an extension of .mov and is a hd video.
your program tells me that the original file is
1440x1080
4:3 but i think it is actually 16:9
29.97
25002
mpeg1 but i think it is mpeg 2 but not sure
.mov is the extension and i know it is HD video
file size is 831

to make the file i chose
mpeg
hd mpeg 1920x1080
the default perimiters are
1920x1080
29.97
15000kbps
i used this default setting and the file converted just fine but now the file size is 481the origianl was 831 which leads me to believe ive lost a lot of resolution and quality?
another problem is i want the file parameters the same as the original but in a format my video editing software can use.the original file wont open in any of my video editing software.that is why i bought avs to convert the origianal file into a type i can use.
so next I use the same default
hd mpeg 1920x1080 but changed the size to
1440x1080 which is the original size
and increased the kbps from 15000 to the same as original 25000
and left everything else the same.
hit the create button and got a mpeg file that is 7mb and when i try to open it in avs video editor i get a error message that says the
file contains no video?
so how do i convert the hd.mov file to hd mpeg file?with the same quality?

Hello,

Please note that the size of the file depends on the format, codec, bitrate, resolution and audio.
It is possible that two files with the same bitrate, resolution, audio etc but with differents formats can have the different size.

Could you please specify if you can open the converted file in AVS Video Converter?

Best regards.
