Hey guru's,

Sorry am pretty switched on but cant find an easy way around this problem...

I've done extensive testing & it seems that H264 AVC is the most compatible with most products, MP2 even more so but anyway...

The next problem I have is my old pioneer DVR plays perfectly when playing off it, but I cant pull HDD out of it & get info off hdd as it's in a linux format even linux cant read! So my only option is to copy off the hdd with software on the player, but when it does this at the highest output quality of the player it put's it on the dvd disc as 4:3 but it's actually recorded as 16:9 so the people look fat!

Now when I want to encode it to H264 or MP2 with AVS I can get it to output with widescreen & not loosing any picture off the sides by just zooming in!

If I use cyberlink I can tick a box to ignore maintaining aspect ratio so I can just pull the side out without pulling top & bottom, is there something similar I can do with AVS I'm using version 8.1.1.5.10?

I much prefer the end quality of AVS but I've tried a few different things & can't find an easy option?

Thanks Grant

Rahul... you need to look at what the video looks like in the window of AVS edit or the advanced output, if it shows with black lines above & below or to both the sides then it's not going to be full screen! if it's grey then it's o.k., but then it all depends on what screen your watching it on & what settings you have as the player?

Hope this helps & I'm not out of line in answering

If you want it full screen you don't want to see any black lines in the menu's of AVS, if it's grey or none at all it should be full screen.

Hope it's right & helps...

Hello Grant,

Unfortunately, AVS4YOU software doesn't have the similar box. Please try to use the Aspect tab.

Best regards.

Hey Lex, been a while how's things?

Yeah Trust me I've tried all the different aspect corrections & then zooming in to minimze the loss of picture, but none really seem to get it 100%

Is there a known format codec thats best to use with full control of aspect & what the best ratio & zoom to use would be?

Thanks Grant

SO you mean to say there is no way with using your software that I can make it full screen without loosing some of the image?

Surely this has to be an option the developers can work on?

Hello,

As we said the only possibility to make a full screen is to use cropscale option. However, you can try to convert video to DVD NTSC and select 16:9 aspect.

Best regards.

Hello,

You are right. The crop scale will cut off the sides.

Thanks Lex, Your idea with the trying DVD output works perfectly for picture if I select original size up top in crop/scale & then output to 16:9!!!!

Only problem is when I do it that way it puts the sound out by 3 seconds, any ideas to fix this, if I edit to any other format it works fine?

Thanks again Grant

Please specify whether the sound is out of sync with all formats.

Thanks again Lex, as that was just a test sample I grabbed it was actually the sample that was out, but I just tried a proper file & does convert to 16:9 & audio sync is o.k. but the video image gets a slight blur when the people in it move fast, which isn't like that in the original file!

But also to that I would then have to re-edit to get it to AVI & is double handelling & I don't think quality is as good as Cyberlink, so I think I'll just go back to that!

Thanks anyway Lex!
