I want to convert avi files to a DVD which will play on a DVD player. After lots of testing I find video converter to DVD gives the best quality picture. Video editor leaves a jagged edge to contrasting parts of video which I don't get using video converter. (Why Is This?).
However when it comes to creating a menu using video converter I find that the menu style images are still cut off regardless of what aspect ratio I choose. Also I can't edit the size of the title and chapter boxes. The style images and title and chapter box size editing works ok in video editor. Should these differences be present in both these programmes? I have downloaded the latest versions>

In fact, it mustn't influence the quality of the output file.

Try to provide some additional information about the error:

- describe your actions step by step;

- specify the format of the file you are trying to convert and its origin;

- specify to which format you convert and which presets you select;

Files are AVI from various sources

With AVS video converter
browse for file
Profile DVD PAL Good Quality
Set aspect ratio input original output 16:9
Click Convert
Like I said I am OK with the quality of video but there are problems with the generating of menus which I have already posted

With AVS Video editor
Load the same AVI file
set aspect ratio for output at 16:9
Click Produce
Chose create Disc
Choose DVD
Profile DVD PAL Good quality (same as above)
click Create Movie

This time the menus are OK (when I set them up of course) but the video quality is inferior. There are jagged edges to contrasting edges like characters faces etc.

If I do a simple conversion with converter from AVI to Mpeg and then use Sony DVD architect to produce the DVD then the quality is as good as using AVS converter to produce the DVD so I think the problem is with AVS video editor producing the DVD
I could send you an example of each one I have done using a small file for each DVD

The jagged edges are not on the menu pages but on the actual DVD video.
I have attached snapshots from the videos to illustrate the problem. Note in the avs converter snapshot the absence of jagged lines on the microphone and the actors face. The look at the avs editor snapshot and you can clearly see the problem.

Please try to convert to DVD NTSC with aspect 16:9. Note, in AVS Video Editor you sould also select 16:9 project aspect.

I have tried the NTSC option in avs editor but the get the same inferior picture compared to avs convertor. Where you able to re create the problem?

I have gone to the support page but when I click the link to the ftp site all I get is a plain page with INDEX OF at the top and a directory and 2 files which seem to be someone else's files. I can find no way of uploading my files

I have tried 4:3. It is better but there are still jagged lines at points of contrast but there are less of them. Still not as good as using AVS video convertor. I would be happy to use AVS video convertor but there is a bug in the menus, they are all 4:3 instead of 16:9. Same problem with AVS remaker. Any idea when all this will be fixed ? I have alot of work to do!!

I have just downloaded the new versions of software and all the issues I mentioned in this post are still present!
Disappointing as I have not used the software since July as I have been waiting for the fix. Will it ever happen?
