Hello.
Sorry about my english.

Why program don't be able to save movie in 854x480px resolution? Only 848x480 (not 16:9) is available.
When I type 480px height size, width is calculated to 848px. This is not what I need.

Thanks for help.

Hello,

Please note, the program automatically select the best proportion for the video. That's why it is impossible to choose 854x480 resolution

Best regards.

Thanks for reply.
But 854x480 Widescreen is better, YouTube for example. 848x480 produce black borders in YouTube and Media Player on PC, because it is not a 16:9 aspect ratio.

16/9 = 854 / 480 = 1,77 (correct)

and

848 / 480 = 1,76 (wrong!)

We should have a choice what resolution we want.

Hello,

Your comment will be put forward to our developers. Please note, if you want to get rid of black borders you should use the Crop Scale option.

Best regards

With AVS Video Converter? No...
My video source have 16:9 aspect ratio, 1280x720px (HD). For what purpose I must use Croping...?
I just want reduce resolution without changing aspect ratio and without cropping anything from my original video source.
Please check yourself, how looks video resizing from 1280x720 to 848x480px and open in Your favourite Video Player.
You see black borders and I don't want use additional operations who reduces quality, cut some video lines and forces me to use other programs from AVS.
This simply operation must be short and pain less :)

Glad to read this, because we all want good video editor.

This option is very important for me (maybe for other people too), because now I must save video in uncompressed format (Huffman Lossless Codec) for encoding with "alternative" software :-) Large of free space required on hard drive :)

Hello,

Thank you for your information. 848x480px or 854x480px are not exact 16/9 aspect ratio:

848x480 > 16:9 0.407
854x480 > 16:9 0.410

Now the program automatically selects the best proportion for the video. 848x480 is nearest to 16:9 than 854x480. I'll suggest to our developpers to switch off the automatically selecting of the proportions.

Best regards.

I have newest version of Video Editor and still I can't select 854x480 resolution.
One of the suggested resolutions on YouTube:

http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=guide.cs&guide=1728585&topic=1728588

- 1080p: 1920x1080
- 720p: 1280x720
- 480p: 854x480
- 360p: 640x360
- 240p: 426x240

When we select XviD video codec we have a problem... Because when resolution is 848x480 we can not select bitrate.
Bitrate value field is set by the program to "N/A". XviD codec does not support 848x480, but 854x480 resolution is supported.
Please, give us choice. Customing frame size don't work properly.

Please check attachment.

Sorry about my englush.
Regards.

What? Either you are mathematically incompetent, or you are either willfully misleading markac.

(854/480)-(16/9)=0.00138888888
(848/480)-(16/9)=-0.01111111111
[(848/480)-(16/9)]/[(854/480)-(16/9)]=-8

In other words, 854x480 is eight times closer to 16:9 than is 848x480.
• Proper FWVGA is 854x480 because 480*(16/9)=853.333333333.
• Some people are more comfortable with 848 because it is an integer multiple of 16.

I am not presenting this as case for changing your presets; I was simply unable to abide such an egregious misrepresentation.

Morestel:
848x480 > 16:9 0.407
854x480 > 16:9 0.410

If this arrangement is easier for you to understand, I'll provide that format for you:

Correct Figures:
854:480 = 16:(9 - 0.007026)
848:480 = 16:(9 +0.056604)

Clearly, 854:480 is the much nearer approximation of 16:9 .

Hello,
We appreciate your taking time to offer us these comments.
Unfortunately output 854x480 frame size is currently not available in AVS Video Editor.
We passed the suggestion to our development team and we encourage you to continue sharing the ideas on how we can improve AVS4YOU applications with us.
