I've recently switched from Handbrake to AVS video converter
because the end result didn't look super on my 47" TV
(not sharp, some artifacts & blocks in shadows)

I've been having constant problems with the completed files.
Input file: BD-map or DVD map
End file is: MP4 - H264 - AVC 9900kbps(BD) or 7400kbps(DVD)

but when i open it there is no video window, no sound.
I tried various players (VLC, Quicktime,...) And jailbroken Apple TV
All the same.

and i can't figure out what went wrong.

I selected the standard Apple TV HD profile, i just changed the FPS to be the same as the source and added bitrate.

appreciate the help,
thanks

Hello,

Please try to convert video keeping the default settings. Specify whether the issue repeats when you convert not Blu-Ray/DVD files.

Best regards.

ok, that got my end file to work, but then i'm stuck with horrible quality. 720p @ 3200kbps. :-(
And When i use a source files other then BD or DVD the output is fine.

-----
- First i extracted the dvd or BD with software to get rid of the encryption algorithms.
- So i end up with BDMV + certificate or VIDEO_TS + Audio_ts
- If i then convert with handbrake i no longer get errors/ warnings... (so encryption worked)

-If i convert with AVS instead, (and default settings) everything plays

but when i change a value, (e.g. more kbps) I end up with 8GB file, no video, no sound.
:-( :-(
*SOS*

Hello,

Please note, when you convert Blu-Ray you should open the BDMV folder and select the index.bdmv file. Should you convert DVD open the VIDEO_TS folder and select the VIDEO_TS.IFO file.
Specify what software you use to remove encryption. Specify to which format you convert and which presets you select.

Best regards.

I just tried a few movies like you suggested, with direct opening of index.bdmv and video_TS.IFO.
Didn't work.
I use apple tv profile (included in software) i only change the bitrate since 3200kbps is waay to low.

For dvd, I always used DVD shrink.
For BD, I use AnyDVD HD.

---------
i think i found it,
in <<Advanced,
Next to video codec -Advanced-
... The bitrate slider over here is maxed out at 5000kbps.

When i choose below 5000, i have video.
when i manually insert a bitrate, i have no video.

So, what setting should i use to maintain a bitrate above 5000?

Yep, that worked. Thx allot!

Any hints on how to get it all in 1 file?
Every movie will end up in 3-4 pieces

Hello,

Unfortunately, there is no possibility to merge these files.

Best regards.
