AVS Document converter- Watermark does not support Chinese characters.

Unfortunately, Chinese characters are not supported by our software when you enter them from keyboard. Try copy/pasting Chinese text from text editor program on your computer.

I use last version AVS Document Converter, but I cannot view the Chinese in preview window, the frame only. What wrong with my setting or this software not support Chinese?

I am using Windows 8 and set non-Unicode to Chinese. When I tried to convert a file name with .doc in Chinese, AVS program was not even displayed the right characters . It just add a couple of "?" mark to the file name, not mention to covert it.
I copy the instruction from AVS support as following :

"To avoid the problem please completely uninstall AVS4YOU software from your PC. Instructions below:

1. Go Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Uninstall. Please make sure to click the "Check All" button.

2. Follow this link and download the utility that will automatically remove all AVS software components from your PC. Save the utility on your computer and launch it. It is highly recommended to leave the default option "Delete license key-files" checked.

3. Download the latest versions of the necessary programs from our website:
http://avs4you.com/downloads.aspx
Now install the software on your PC anew.

If it does not solve the issue please contact us again and specify your PC configuration."

I did all steps in your instruction but it still Does NOT work. I tried to convert a Chinese document , a simple text file, AVS not even recognize the Chinese context at all.
Another thing: The new all-in-one package does not come with the AVS navigator like it used to do.
Also, the release date of the new software version 2.3.1.108 is "08/04/2013" on your website ?

Please try to rename the document with latin syllables or numerals (if it is possible for you) and then import to AVS Document Converter.
Do you get any problems this way?

Hi gyl201, were you able to rename the document with Latin already? How did it go?

The current AVS programs require users to have both file names and folders holding files in English, hence for Chinese files we need to temporarily change the file names and place them in yet a temporary folder before running with AVS. This is obviously very undesirably inconvenient.

With the increase in popularity of Chinese language and Chinese users/market, many software companies (eg Windows, Microsoft, Nero, Audacity etc, just to name a few) have long upgraded their software to allow file names and folders in Chinese characters.

We wonder if AVS is implementing similar upgrade and when can we expect it to be done.

For support of Chinese symbols in file/directory names for AVS4YOU-applications you must set next option:

Windows XP:
"Control Panel" -> "Regional and Language Options" -> "Advanced" tab -> "Language for non-Unicode programs" - Chinese

Windows Vista/7:
"Control Panel" -> "Region and Language" -> "Administrative" tab -> "Language for non-Unicode programs" - Chinese

Windows 8/8.1/10:
"Control Panel" -> "Region" -> "Administrative" tab -> "Language for non-Unicode programs" - Chinese

and restart your Windows system.

I did exactly what you suggested and confirm in Control Panel that Chinese language is set. But files in Chinese or folder in Chinese remain not accessible!

I worked in IT for 30 years before I retired and I have used AVS software packages for many years and also received reasonable support in many instances from Maria, Alexander, Anna and then Tess. Regretably, I would consider your “support here” as being sloppy and irresponsible.

A year ago I asked Tess a similar question and she told me then, “not available but would refer to software development department as the Chinese market is huge and many others have successfully done so (Windows, Microsoft, Nero, Audacity, and continue growing).” I was not happy with the answer but I accepted her frank and professional answer.

When I read many similar discussions in your Forum recently, I decided to raise the subject again. Instead of doing your professional duties, you chose to provide a sloppy untested suggestion (27.07.18 13:17:01) which did not work. Your “30.07.18 08:38:09” follow-up now ask for “the original file name/path. Some chinese symbols did not recognized” also clearly indicate that you didn’t know the issue and did not test your “solution” before publishing to users.

It’s perfectly ok for AVS to stay out of the Chinese language support in all your software, the market will decide. We can’t force you. But you must be professional and responsible.

Now to answer professionally to your “30.07.18 08:38:09” question.
It doesn’t make any difference with original file name/path. In so long as it is a video file in Chinese name, or a video file with English name but kept in a folder that is in Chinese, the AVS software will not read. I don’t expect you to ask me to send “a Chinese video file name and a Chinese folder”.
Please provide the list of your response “Some chinese symbols did not recognized”.
