I tried adding subtitles by using the advanced menu like they say in the user guide but I don't see the subpicture option. How do you add subtiltes or can you even do it? I downloaded a foreign flick but needed english subtitles.

thanks Vlad.

Another question. Today I used AVS to convert an mkv file to DVD and although the subtitles included in the mkv were recognized by AVS, and supposedly included in the conversion process, they are no longer there in the DVD produced.

Is this a related issue to what we discussed; or did I do something wrong?

Hello,

You should select subtitles for conversion in AVS Video Converter>Advanced>Conversion Options>Subpicture. See the instructions that Al had given.

Regards.

That's exactly what I did (see screenshot). Yet the resultant DVD does NOT include the subtitles

Please advise

Where do you play resulted video, in what player? Have you turned on subtitles during playback? They may not be enabled by default.

I use VideoLAN to open the disc and the subtitles cannot be found. However, they are definitely in the mkv-file for which also use VLC.

Let me assure you that I have no problem finding subitles if indeed they are there

I get the following error msg:

"An error occured during the transfer of the fil. Make sure you have permission to enter the ftp site"

This happens after about 3 or 4 hours of upload; and it happened twice

Try using ftp-client FileZilla for transfering. I've sent it to you in our support system.

I should have thought of this myself - I have CuteFTP installed.

The file is now uploaded and is called 'Ninotchka.mkv'. Let me know if you need more info
