During the caching process of a .ts file, VE keeps crashing.

File info attached.

I have now set the caching option to No Cache, and I managed to edit and produce a good file (btw, if anything it speeds up processing, so I'm wondering whether caching is of any benefit at all).

However, at the end of the file creation, VE again crashed, so that when I reopened the project, VE started caching the file because it was using the restored last version it had which was set to cache, despite the global No Cache setting. Crazy.

This is a vicious cycle, which I need to break.

Where are the project backup files stored so that I can delete them, please?

All of a sudden VE has become a nightmare to work with.

It couldn't be anything to do with running this file could it: TS_AAC_patch.exe ?

Ok, so I tried again with the same source file (large .ts).

I deleted the caching one, saved the project, closed VE, opened the project, imported the file, so no caching taking place (hoorah), saved project, trimmed video, went to produce, selected format and settings, and....crash.

This isn't funny.

btw. please don't ask about the format or settings - I've used these MANY times in the past with complete success.

one last comment: the same type of files that are causing VE to crash are handled perfectly well by Video Converter

I would say, it is the problem with certain file and our program crashes converting it (caching is some kind of conversion). Could you please upload the file to our ftp-server?

jcthomson_VE_crashing_problem.ts uploaded to server.

reminder: while this sort of file imported into VE and VC without audio before running TS_AAC_patch.exe, it never caused either program to crash. After running TS_AAC_patch.exe, VE imports the audio, but crashes; VC imports the audio and runs correctly.

I look forward to getting your diagnosis and cure!

thanks as usual

Vlad

for comparison sake, I've also uploaded to the server file jcthomson_HD.ts which has 2 channel audio as opposed to 6.

Video Editor handled this file no problem.
