Hi there AVS Support Team

I have been using an unregistered version of AVS Video Editor 4.2 for about six months, and have created a 1 hour 6 minute long movie. But when I tried to save the movie onto DVD an error message appeared External Exception: E06..... So I decided to check out the forums. I then registered Video Editor 4.2. According to one person's recommendation on a forum I decided to download the latest Video Editor (5.2) but everytime I try to run my file AVS Video Editor freezes and doesn't respond. The movie is a combination of MOV. movie clips taken from JVC Everio HD camera, MP4 movie files and JPG and AVI files from my Fujifilm Finepix 8.2 megapixel camera. In Video Editor 4.2 importing all the files onto the project was fine. Imported them, edited them, added music MP4 files to them. Also added fade and film reel transitions, changed the color, audio settings for some of the uploaded MOV files.

There were some slight gliches while working on the project on AVS Video Editor 4.2, ie, I noticed after saving the project, it wasn't as smooth to work on, importing files would become an issue, or the project wouldn't play, which then I would have to close the project and reload it again. Also, there gilches when playing the files sometimes as it would pause on certain files (especially when going from a MOV file to a JPG file) and the audio (MP4 file) would also be affected. (I understand it has to synch together and sometimes requires time to register itself) Also as the project file got bigger it got harder and harder to load the project. ie it would take me approx 4 times or more just to start loading, the project doesn't fully load (MOV and JPG files appear on timeline without any picture showing they are not loaded and cannot be played), close the file, restart it and repeat that process. This would sometimes require me sitting in front of my computer for hours without any work being done. Also as the project got bigger every operation performed whether it be Splitting film, adjusting volume, etc would require more time for operation to be completed and registered on the screen.

AVS VIDEO EDITOR FREEZES
But now after six months of hard work it appears that AVS Video Editor 5.2 cannot finish the job. Every time I open it and load the AVS VEditor 4.2 file, all the files appear on the timeline, the first AVI file appears to be loaded (the picture appears on the timeline) and then all of a sudden, everything goes quiet with the computer. When I click anywhere on the screen the AVS V Editor window freezes and is Not Responding.

Please help me! I've spent much time on this project, sacrificed much sleep, and made it specially for family and friends in US. I'm from New Zealand. So its for my friends a long long way away! And I'm due to fly there at the end of next month! I'm almost at the finishing touches of my movie...I would really really appreciate all the help I can get on this.

To assist in problem diagnosis:
I have a Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4700@2.60GHz it has a memory of 2.0GB

Hi Vlad,

yes I've tried that but that doesn't work. Anyway, I managed to find a copy of 4.2 AVS Video Editor in my external hard-drive which is 1TB big and have managed to finish my project using that. It looks like a memory capacity issue as working off the external is much much faster. ie any operations performed splitting, muting, changing color features happens much much faster and doesn't affect the player. The only issue I'm facing with my finished movie is that the audio is out-of-synch. I believe this issue might belong on another forum topic but if I could get some suggestions that'll be greatly appreciated once again.

Basically, there are about three audio layers altogether, that is, the music line, the dialogue line (onto which I've spliced some movie clips and converted them only to sound clips without any image) and the main timeline which has the video clip with its own audio. There's a part in the movie I'm trying to make where there's a entire clip of a acoustic jam session, but having other movie clips interspresed in between, but keeping the same audio from the acoustic session running over these other movie clips. To accomplish this, I have the acoustic session video with other videos on the timeline, and the audio of the video loaded onto the dialogue line, but cut and edited to go over the other movie clips that do not have the song on them. When burning onto DVD, the MOVIE clips are out of synch with the song. Whereas while working on it in the project timeline, it works just fine, nothing out of synch. Any suggestions?

Thank you. Once again, sorry this topic is on the wrong thread, but if you'd like to forward me to the proper thread that's fine.

Regards,
Dr Invisble

Glad that you managed to finish the project...

As for audio issue, I would still recommend you to use the latest version AVS Video Editor 5.2 as most sync bugs have been fixed in it. As far as I understand you installed version 4.2. on externall hard drive and it solved the errors. Is it so? Try also installing AVS Video Editor 5.2. in the same way.

Also, not sure what you call dialogue line. Is it Audio Mix line or line for voice recording? If you put video clip into it, I would better recommend you to extract audio from your video and put audio file to the line. You can do it selecting video file in Media Library, right clicking on it and then choosing Extract Audio option in the context menu.

I hope it helps.
