Hi,

as you can probably tell....i know NOTHING about computors! I had an old version of AVS called AVS Video To Go. It was brilliant! It had 3 options for output quality....Max Speed (guessing lowest quality) Normal and Best quality.

I now have AVS Video Converter 7. All i want to do is convert my home movies (currently on DVD) to a GOOD quality format to save on my PC. Should i convert to avi? What settings do i set to get the BEST quality output?

Is there any one out there who can translate AVS talk into 6 year old speak for me?

Please be gentle with me!

Cheers,

John

Hello John,

Yes, it's better to convert DVD to avi to store it on computer. It is called DVDrip.
We recommend you to select Video:MPEG-4 (Divx;xviD), 1500 kbps; Audio: MP3,192 kpbs or Video: H.264/AVC, 1200 kbps; Audio: MP3, 192 kbps.

In the Profile list you can find different presets with output settings, for example to convert video to youtube, to some devices, to HD format which give the best settings for youtube, HD TV, etc.

I hope it helps.

Best regards.
