I left a support request 48 hours ago and still no response, as a prospective customer I find this unbelievable that no one has bothered to respond.

I am testing AVS Video Converter 7.1.2.480, I believe this is the latest release, I find a bug in converting large MKV files, from reading other posts on the this forum I see others with similar problem.

I am converting a large "MKV" 7.95 GB file to Mpeg, conversion starts ok up to 23% then the program stops responding with the converter host program memory increasing in the process to a point that I get a memory violation error.

From what I can determine this seems to be a memory leak issue, I have attached screen shots with error and memory allocation to the relevant components with support .

I then tested with converting to MP4, I noticed the Converter host was using a lot less memory, around 680Mb, I thought maybe I am asking too much to convert to Mpeg2, unfortunately this also crashed but this time the software return error Code: 65536

I like the software and would be useful with some of my clients requiring conversions to suit the equipment they have, but is useless unless I can convert large files.

I see that on the Forum others have had this kind of problem resolved with crafted DLL files. It would be fantastic if some one in AVS attended to my ticket, if not, is there any one that could forward me a copy of the offending DLL that solves this problem.

Note, Small files convert properly with excellent quality

Thank you in advance of a response.

I see that the moderator has been on since I posted, yet no response.
I have tested an opposition product and work just as good with respect to conversion quality. I guess you have lost a potential customer.

As a comment on your support, you have to work at it to be a lot better.
As far as software, you have to work at it to make sure it's not buggy, you have a good product, yet it's let down by your licensing requirements been hardware specific to one machine and lack of reasonable response to support requests.

Hope you take these points as constructive critic.

Hello,

Please accept our apologies for the late response, there were technical problems on our server.

We would still be pleased to offer our help in solving the problem if you are interested in it.

To avoid the error converting this file, please select single-thread converting mode in Setting>Processing and Below normal priority for threads.
If it does not help, please send us your file, so that we could test it and offer dll fix (please find the instructions in our support system).

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards.

Thank you Vlad, I have done all the thread tricks you mention, I am not interested in purchasing software that behaves as Beta.
I have now gone to another product, same price and just as good with more features and video output quality and faster conversion with lower CPU load.

Thanks...

Are you running Symantec Endpoint or any virus software during the conversion? I have no affiliation with AVS4YOU, but I ran into this exact problem... as the conversion start as did the memory usage. It climbed until I got the violation error as well. I disabled Symantec this time and the memory has remained stable and currently 1.41 GB of 6GB usage. I cant promise this will help you, but it did fix the memory problem for me.
